I’ve been back to writing fiction recently and then I realised, “oops this has a lot of unintentional gothic themes and ambience”. I haven’t engaged in a great deal of gothic literature in comparison to, say, high or fantasy, so I’ve set about remedying that both for fun and to better my own work.

Claire Prosho, a Trans+ healthcare researcher who worked on the Gender Clinic Files investigative series with QueerAF and What The Trans?!, raised question marks about the claim of higher rates of surgical referral in Wales in a letter she sent on August 29 to Mabon ap Gwynfor, the Welsh minister for health and social care.

"I highlighted how, using accurate data gathered for the UK Gender Services Monitor, coupled with other data gathered by Freedom of Information Act requests, the surgical referral rate for the Welsh Gender Service was actually lower than that in England," Prosho tells QueerAF. Reading older ethnography methods books has me arguing with the author in the margins (they had the cheek to say anthropology “contributed very little directly to colonial domination” 🙃)

The U.S. has an extensive and bloody history of forcing regime change in Latin America, which is what makes this a continuation rather than an exception. But the lack of obfuscation involved is pretty stunning. They’re trying to equate this to acting on a warrant internal to the U.S.
