If ever I go to prison it will be because of the people who wait until they are on the bus in front of the bus driver to search for their pass having just stood in the queue for five minutes.

In Jan and Feb, I'll get my research days back as I'll have taught all my new material and will just be supporting student projects. BUT is it too risky to just assume I can get the lion's share done then? I think so!

Now in new job, research days are currently taken up writing new lectures. Weekends will soon be taken up by promo for new novel. Christmas will be squeezed by visiting relatives as my family don't travel so none of them will come to us. Getting a *bit* stressed.

When I originally agreed to the deadline, I had no intention of leaving my job and had weekly research days mapped out to work on it. Then I got a new job & as I worked out my notice, research days became handover days.

My non-fiction publisher doesn't follow me on here so I can say this- folks, I'm so behind on this book. They've given me an extension until the end of February which basically means I have to write 20k over Christmas. I know I can do it *in theory* but...

Bus back due to be at least 20 mins late as well. Maybe just offset the timetable by 25 mins, eh?

Daycare sent photos of Badger and his pals at the field. He & another dog had a lead attached while running around. I asked why (feeling I probably already knew) & they said those were the dogs who would run and hide in the bushes when it was time to leave & needed something to help drag them out 🙈

Hey authors fancy doing something fun for Halloween text in the alt description
Hi
Every Halloween week, Ginger Nuts of Horror likes to do something daft. This year it's the Halloween Author Interrogation: five silly questions sent to a batch of horror writers, with the best answers run together in one piece on Wednesday 28 October. We'd love you to be one of the accused.
There are no wrong answers, only answers your publicist might wince at. Answer as many as you like (three or more is perfect), and keep each one short, anywhere from a sentence to about 100 words.
	1.	You're allowed to keep one cursed object from horror fiction or film. Which one do you take home, and what everyday job do you put it to?
	2.	Which horror death would be the most embarrassing to explain to your mum?
	3.	Your house is haunted, but the ghost only has one complaint about you. What is it?
	4.	Which horror villain would make the worst flatmate, and what does the first passive-aggressive note you stick on the fridge say?
	5.	A demon offers to write one scene of your next book in exchange for your soul. Which scene do you hand over, and is it worth it?
Along with your answers, please send:
	•	A one-line bio
	•	Your latest or upcoming book, with a link
	•	An author photo we can use
	•	Your social handles, so we can tag you when it goes live
The deadline is Friday 16 October. Just reply to this email with your answers.
Thanks for playing along. It should be a lot of fun, and a nice way to get your name and book in front of our readers in the scariest week of the year.
Best wishes,
Jim McLeod
