Everyone demanding Senator Schmidtt apologize to Jack Smith are again setting the bar too low. They should be demanding his resignation from the Judiciary Committe. He's unfit to serve Pound the table. Make some noise. Turn this into a multi-day story

The raw visceral hatred some men have for women, at least women who step out of line, is shocking. I know it sounds like some sorta "one of the good ones" ploy but I am genuinely taken aback when I see it because I think: I had a fairly normal socialisation as a man in the west, how did I miss this?

Trump's net approval is -22.4%. He's twice as unpopular as he was at this point in his first term, making him the least popular president at this stage in the history of presidential polling. What more would it take for Dems and liberal institutions to stop being accomodationists?

That is clear, all statistical models with do that. To me, the original point, in that first of posts, was these are systems based on probability based models. Hence probabilistic. The answers being the same each time as the definition of deterministic: changes that.

Lalit Wangikar @lwangikar.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
Guess I should have rephrased. All statistical models will give you the same answer for a given input. If that’s what we call deterministic, then we are saying we don’t care for the accuracy of that answer. That’s no better than the magic 8 ball.

Lalit Wangikar @lwangikar.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
Is it that the error rate has approached zero / is very low or is it really deterministic? How can a system built on likelihood estimations come to a deterministic conclusion?

For all of these incidents, it is critical that there be accountability, transparency and full disclosure of how this happened, including the prompts and responses, tokens consumed, the set up etc. These need to be treated like the cyber crimes they are.

ALT version.
The accusation that I am antisemitic is appalling and fundamentally dishonest. Criticizing the actions of the Israeli prime minister, a military technology contract, or the executives who supply it is not the same as criticizing Jewish people. This critical and necessary dialogue is then dishonestly framed as being anti-Israel.  To be clear, my views come from my own political convictions and should never be interpreted as hostility toward Jewish people, for whom I have deep love and respect.  Everything I know about acting, activism, and humanism has been profoundly shaped by the Jewish friends, colleagues, and loved ones who have been integral and family throughout every point of my life.

This merger has real consequences for real people, and for the entire country. Scrutinizing the Ellisons, including Oracle’s business built on data, surveillance technology and government contracts, and the serious threat to editorial freedom and the loss of a livelihood for thousands of families, is fair and necessary. The $111 billion deal would hand one family control over CNN, HBO and Warner Bros., backed in part by foreign money whose influence on editorial decisions has never been fully explained to the public.

Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have called for serious national security review, and regulators still haven’t given the public a real answer. Until they do, the merger shouldn’t move forward. Now is the time to dive boldly into all these issues, not step back or concede.

Some more random thoughts on Woke 1. First, comparing it to McCarthyism willfully effaces the fact that McCarthyism was a state-led and unconstitutional ideological purge of the institutions of power. That also describes Trump II. Woke I was a subaltern revolt.

This gets to my own perspective on Woke 1. The problem was more this 2nd-order white reaction to jump on the bandwagon to avoid getting run over by it, rather than the actual critical theory and radical politics of Woke 1 (i.e., the problem was Woke 1.2 not Woke 1.1 or however you want to paginate).
