I make art in many forms. Sharing it is scary so I don't do that very often. Bad at writing descriptions.

An untitled kyrielle poem. A kyrielle poem consists of quatrains which all end with the same line. www.shadowpoetry.com/resources/wi...
An untitled poem, handwritten.

The people rushing day by day
To chase the quick and easy way
Do not intend to find the pace
That leaves the world a better place.

There are some others who still know
That life is best when going slow.
Together, we can build a space
That leaves the world a better place.

But if I was the only one
To choose what's right where they chose fun,
I would still fight to live with grace
That leaves the world a better place.

It's the Seasonal Reposting Competition! Repost this over the weekend, and on Sunday one lucky person will win a signed copy of one of my books. For you or the #crossword addict in your life: 50 fiendish @theguardian.com #puzzles and all the stories behind them: boatmancryptics.co.uk/crossword-bo...
Boatman - the first 50 reportedly makes a great present or holiday read, exemplified by this image of the book opened to show the story behind the Shipping Forecast puzzle, on display on Brighton beach.

Reviewing Boatman - the first 50, Alan Connor (The Guardian's crossword editor and the brains behind many of BBC2’s quiz programs) says: "This is one to savour. Boatman's puzzles are witty and ingenious. It is an extraordinary pleasure to read how his unique mind works. The first 50 is a book I never knew I needed in my life. Gift it to yourself and to the word-lovers in yours".

Hugh Stephenson (Alan’s predecessor at The Guardian) says: "This is a unique book of crosswords" and Henry Morris: "a Boatman crossword is like a theme park. Each daunting line is a rollercoaster ... He scares you witless. But you can't wait to do it all over again".Boatman - the second 50 contains another 50 puzzles from The Guardian, with five bonus puzzles previously only available online and including puzzles, solutions and the ideas and stories behind them, exemplified by this image of the book opened to show one of the stories, which is accompanied by a picture of a large cow.

Reviewing Boatman - the second 50, Gyles Brandreth says: "If you want a fiendish crossword, you want the best - which means you want Boatman, because he is the best" and Brian Bilston: "Cracking crosswords - each puzzle a delightful daily workout for the brain and a welcome tonic for the soul".

Yesterday was a very lovely day for November, so I took a walk outside. While out, I came up with the theme, the starting lines, and one or two of the later lines for this poem, and had to stop and jot them down. I present the final product: Fallen Leaves. #poetry
Fallen Leaves

Scattered all across the countryside in shades of brown and red,
with their loving families wishing that they could have gone instead–
All the boldest and the brightest out in empty fields lie
far from home with no returning, and their tomb the empty sky.
Some led by misguided duty, others simply forced to go,
but the battle makes no difference what the fallen soldier chose,
and the casualties are rising, as the many colors fall—
all these leaves are falling, falling, and the trees don't care at all.

They were not the ones to start the war, but they must carry on
Fighting for their homes and lives before their time is quickly gone.
No reprieve for them when wounded, for no hospital's secure;
but their deaths are counted nothing, for the war must still endure.
Torn by wind and wild weather from the places they were grown,
sent uncaring by these marshals to a land they'd never known
where they fly and fight and fall, with all their colors tattered bare
And their struggle matters nothing, for the trees don't even care.

The word "salary" comes from Ancient Rome when soldiers used to get paid every month in salamanders. #etymology #linguistics #AncientRome

Two random people followed me today despite the fact that I haven’t opened the app in several weeks. Thank you and here’s a picture of some ducklings on a log that I took on my vacation this summer! I will not make promises of further activity. :P
Two fuzzy ducklings sit on a log in a pond. There are ripples on the water, as it has just begun to rain.

🚫 Don’t: “Everyone is a little autistic.” ✅ Do: “Autistic traits are not exclusive to Autistic people and it’s the cumulative constellation of traits that they have that fundamentally differs from the lived experiences of Non-Autistic people.” (A bit wordy, but maybe the nuance is worth it.)

This betta fish from December 2023 was a lot of fun. All the tiny lines that make up the fins and tail were so satisfying, evoking the joy of just doodling. Each color in the fins is a different layer, and each fin itself is a different group of layers. #krita #art #digitalart

First art post! (Finally.) This is one of the first digital art projects I did, about 2 years ago, and it's still one of my favorites. I use it as a profile picture in a lot of places, and I think it actually sparked the way dragonflies have become my Thing(tm). #krita #digitalart
A drawing of several dragonflies in front of a green leafy background, surrounded by a gold border. The dragonfly wings are highly detailed, while their bodies are not. The image is the same as my profile picture.

Hello all: It is with a heavy heart that I remove my Starter Pack of "Trustworthy Mesopotamian Copper Ingot Merchants Within the City-State of Ur." I have been informed about some pretty unfortunate oversights on my part and ultimately platformed some creators who should not have been platformed.

I think it’s kinda funny how I keep finding the most niche of starter packs in my discover feed. “Fluvial geomorphology starter pack”? Truly glad you can find your niche people in such a convenient way, but sometimes it just makes me giggle.

I was going to post some of my art today or maybe a poem but I’m too unmotivated to go choose one and write a description for it. Have a picture I took of a tree instead!
