Lizalfos need to become one of the main races in Zelda games (like Gorons, Rito, Zora and Gerudo), maybe make one of them a sage also. I guess in that case they'd be called "Lizal" instead.

> Also y'all need to stop doing this! I thought this game was ugly for years, but it's because every video and screenshot is played at like HD or 4K where all the implied details vanish, all the billboard sprites look fake as fuck, and everything just looks like a big smear.

> Old games are like movie props. You're not supposed to actually look at them that up close!!

A surprising number of people debated with this premise. "The second one is clearer! You can see the details! You can see the textures! I can actually see that it's a clock!"

... But you don't see that it's a clock. You see it's a symbol of a clock. You see the toy clock, the little box with sticker placed over it, with the face of a clock printed on it. The environment goes from being a full faith-ed attempt at simulating Dracula's castle to being a playset.

it would be helpful to mention japanese labor laws re: layoffs as a factor in these types of stories

Quiet Restructuring vs. U.S.-Style Layoffs

In Japan, U.S.-style sudden mass layoffs are rare by law and custom. Instead, firms practice a "quiet change". They curb hiring, redeploy staff internally, and expand early-retirement schemes. For example, Tokyo Shoko Research reports that 46 listed companies in FY2025 offered early retirement to over 20,000 workers. Notably, many announcements emphasized retraining and redeployment over firing. A consultant's study notes that Japanese companies are focusing on "eliminating redundant tasks" to boost productivity, rather than simply cutting headcount.

What, if any, additional considerations apply if large numbers of dismissals (redundancies) are planned? How many employees need to be affected for the additional considerations to apply?
-

In cases of layoffs, courts tend to determine the validity of the dismissal by comprehensively considering the specific circumstances related to the following four elements (Tokyo District Court Decision, January 21, 2000; Osaka High Court Judgment, March 24, 2016, etc.).Since restructuring dismissals are dismissals based on the employer’s circumstances, stricter standards are applied in determining their validity than for dismissals attributable to the employee’s fault. These standards apply regardless of the number of employees targeted for dismissal.

(i) Necessity of Personnel Reduction: The implementation of personnel reduction must be based on sufficient necessity arising from corporate management issues such as recession, decline, or poor business performance, or be recognised as an unavoidable measure.

(ii) Efforts to Avoid Dismissal (Necessity of Selecting Layoffs as a Means of Workforce Reduction) : Measures to avoid layoffs must have been implemented, such as reducing expenses (including cutting overtime pay by stopping overtime work), reducing temporary workers, reducing or eliminating executive compensation and employee bonuses, not renewing fixed-term contracts, halting new hires, suspending pay raises, reassigning employees, or offering voluntary retirement programs.

(iii) Rationality of Selection: Objective and reasonable criteria must be established for selecting employees subject to dismissal, and these criteria must be applied fairly.

(iv) Fairness of the termination process: Conducting labour-management negotiations, individual interviews, and other procedures to provide explanations, disclose information, and engage in consultation with workers.

As much as I love buff badass lesbian Samus, I also really love the version of her from that one Super Metroid gag manga where she's this weirdo obsessed with round objects and hiding in small spaces

Metroid manga: Round and Round
An Unexpected Discovery

Samus: I haven't been back to my starship in a long while.
Samus: It's gotten very dirty. It should be cleaned.
(Samus notices something while cleaning)
Samus: Oh!
(Samus is now curled into a ball and tucked into a small space)
Galactic Federation Voice: Samus! Report in! What are you doing? Respond!
Samus: Aaah! It's perfect for turning into a ball here!

Lots of Information

Samus: This is Samus! I've been exploring many places on my mission!
Galactic Federation Voice: Have you really been doing anything?
Samus: If you don't believe me, just take a look at this map!
Galactic Federation Voice: Oh! I see you've been rapidly progressing!
Samus: See, see?
(Galactic Federation Guy looks at Samus's map, which is full of her notes)
Galactic Federation Guy: As for these notes...
The notes: "Here's a roundy, and it's very nice!"
"Here's another."
"Rolly place."
"There was a roundy here, but it broke down."
