The problem isn’t that they’re moving past it—it’s that they’re trying to rehabilitate it. Would be better for everyone if people who don’t want to engage with the facts just talked about the play on the field and left it at that.

I think this is true. For my partner or myself, it was always a deal breaker and insult to employ this piece of shit, but we’re tangential at best to fandom. For her Cleveland fam, or my neighbors, or my kid’s teachers and friend’s parents, they just like it when the home team wins. It’s gross

Jazz OTD: The resourceful drummer Matt Wilson recorded this tempered, gorgeous rendition of Nelson Cavaquinho's "Beija Flor" with his band "Arts and Crafts" for their often exuberant eponymous album on October 2, 2000. With Terell Stafford (tp), Larry Goldings (d), and Dennis Irwin (b). #jazzsky

Jazz OTD: "No Room For Squares" was definitely the best title in tenor saxophonist Hank Mobley's discography, and possibly the best album too (among fierce competition). He recorded most of it on October 2, 1963 with Lee Morgan (tp), Andrew Hill (p), John Ore (b), and Philly Joe Jones (d). #jazzsky

Several weeks ago, Phil Tippett's legendary animation studio in Berkeley, CA closed. An anonymous hero noticed a folder of CDs. This turned out to be hundreds of unseen hi-res images and videos from Star Wars, Robocop, Jurassic Park, etc. ~90 isos for you to browse: archive.org/details/tipp...
A casual Star Wars alien fella at the cantina, in a sun faded, reddish photo. Someone will be mad at me for not knowing who this is. Phil, a balding Caucasian man, poses a model of the garthok, an antagonist from the Coneheads movie.Phil, a balding caucasian man, points at some CG on a CRT computer monitor, as a younger man looks on. The screen shows a model of a dinosaur attacking a jeep, while there's an actual physical model of that event in the foreground for reference.an isolated shot of a star wars vehicle. The peace Conan describes here is what I find so psychotic about Capitalism: The unnatural systemic need for more, growth, bigger, up, is constantly making people feel - mentally and financially - like where they’re at is not what success looks like, even if it’s exactly what makes them happy.

Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

I often think of a guy I knew who showed me art he made for his girlfriend, which was the word love repeated over and over in different fonts, arranged in the shape of a heart. Because he loved her, I assume, with his heart, which also can itself symbolize love. I bet he’d enjoy this stuff

this guy is just an AI booster on Twitter, of course he's going to have this opinion because it lures in the town he's currently trying to sell a monorail to, but it's not actually real. When guys say this, they don't actually know or care about music or history, they just care about the attention
The general public hates AI music.

Here are other things the general public hated over the years.

1920s: microphones.

The idea that you could project your voice was lambasted by critics for being "manipulative" when they were first released. Today, microphones are pretty much a requirement.

i should clarify, when i write people doing bad things, it's because i am bad. they are me. more importantly, when you read about those bad things, they also become you. that's how story works. in fact, you are going to think about murder before this skeet ends. how's that feel, sicko.
