It’s blandness is infuriating. The white outline is also a… choice. If it’s to highlight foreground then why not the fence too? It reminds me of sticker books for kids. But from a nightmare.

I guess this is the inevitable result of the decimation of the Me Too movement with convicted rapists in high office & misogyny, femicide & assault on the rise. I’m so tired but so fecking angry. Please buy, commission & read more diverse voices. Halt the slide back into the muck in comics too.

I will not get the readership, attention or plaudits my time, efforts & discomfort deserves. Because the Patriarchy is deep in comics too. I see this happening to creators of non-cis-male persuasion all the time & rage internally at the injustice as another dude writes another sexualising fem story.

I’m currently pouring a lifetime’s frustration, trauma, injury, rage & grief into my female centred comic MOTHERS RUIN. It’s informed by the experiences of myself & the women (inclusive women) I’ve known, witnessed & comforted from their experiences of surviving society. It’s dripping with ire.

I want to read these stories from any other perspective & I mean that inclusively. I want to read female led stories from the trans, NB, female & inquiry perspective. Any experience that has actual experience to imbue the characters with for genuine depth & better storytelling.

Everywhere I look lately a cis-Male comic creator is announcing a female-led project whilst my timelines are flooded with accounts of SA, both adult & minor, and I’ve never been more aware of living in a Patriarchal society.

Yep, many tears shed but also the constant incredulity of what Zara went through in such a short period of time. My big unstoppable cry was sat on the beach whilst my kid took a sea swimming lesson. Already a local mad woman.
