Happy Letterer Appreciation Day! Often one of the most underappreciated roles in comics, and yet more often one of the most VITAL Lettering can make or break a comic and all too often it is considered the "Ah, I'll take care of it myself, how hard can it be" of many first/new comics.

The final poster for SCARF 2026! Art by the wonderful Bex Ollerton (@schnumn.bsky.social), "Scarf Girl" designed by Liam Hill. With huge thanks to @gnrr.bsky.social, SHU Illustration and @averyhill.bsky.social for supporting the event. 10th October 2026, Trafalgar Warehouse, S1 4JT!

A poster for the Sheffield Comic ARts Fair - a girl with a wooly hat wearing a big purple and yellow scarf gazes at a comic book with hearts in her eyes. Her scarf curls up and round to frame text that confirms the date of the event (10th Oct 2026), that it's Free entry, and the location (Trafalgar Warehouse, S1 4JT).

Things I have learned from lugging about 8 boxes of assorted books/comics through into the finished library so we can start shelving them: I own far too many books/comics, and have bought Blade of the Immortal three times (original slim Dark Horse version, omnibus and then the deluxe omnibus 🤭)

I think we need to celebrate the death of Sora a bit more. This is a technology that, just MONTHS AGO, we were being told was going to literally destroy Hollywood and Disney was going to give them a BILLION DOLLARS and NONE OF THAT EVEN REMOTELY HAPPENED

Courier Z always delivers, but don't just take my biased word for it - here's the testimony of ace comic makers @chrismole.bsky.social and @asawheatley.bsky.social after reading volume one. Get that book and the brand new second one on Kickstarter now - www.kickstarter.com/projects/nic...

Pull quote graphic - "“The Collected Letters of Courier Z is a blast - a tightly-plotted cluster of wacky, self-contained sci-fi shorts that feel drawn from a much larger, lived-in world, with a roster of fantastic artists. If you like the idea of a more homicidal feline equivalent of Microsoft's Clippy (who doesn't?), don't miss this!” - Chris Mole (Brigantia, The Black Rubric)"

Pull quote graphic - "“Our introduction to the intrepid intergalactic postie, Courier Z, is a wonderful collection of darkly comic sci-fi adventures.” - Asa Wheatley (Sagas of the Shield Maiden, Tails of Mystery)"

Quietly amused at how much it ticks me off when I catch someone clearly using AI to write email replies to me - you should have proof-read before you included a wonky-ass paragraph which awkwardly quotes a specific phrase from my last email back at me, my guy 😤

People really underestimate just how fucking cool Tetsuo Hara actually is. He is almost blind and it is about as effective against his drawing as a wet napkin against Kenshiro's iron chest. He funds children's hospitals. He said AI will never win because it can't be prepared to die like a human.

Watched this video and it's a real eye-opener - but despite having been a real musician for 20+ years I couldn't say with certainty that my (admittedly half-deaf) ears would be able to immediately identify an AI slop remix, so I can't really blame other people falling for it. Very upsetting!

Also while I'm here, in relation to the constant stream of news and bad things - I'm going to stop thinking "maybe THIS is the thing that will get the bad guys" because let's be real, there is no one thing that will impact any of these rich people because the rich are shielded from consequence.
