I despair at these responses to far right mobs descending on hotels. A few years ago when the far right were trialling this model they came to my community and scared the hell out of women and children in a hotel who had been air lifted from Afghanistan via operation Pitting. The thugs had signs..

The reason *everyone* should care about this - whatever their politics - is that nobody is safe from having an uncontrolled mob descending on the hotel they are staying at. And that's what is becoming permissible by the lack of a robust response.

When Lauren an anti trafficking campaigner enters the public debate and expresses an expert view this man violently says ‘because you won't shut up your body is available for my imagined punishment’. gendered abuse is the price many women pay when they enter public debate. They do it because heroes.

So striking how weapons and defence spending is still framed in hero terms unlike net zero. Mr Webb on Today programme just now ‘is the public aware of the sacrifices it will have to make’ etc. spending still up for debate, but a preferential debate where the ‘British made’ angle plays.

Farage will now over-claim on his raw numbers, but the reality is that he’s scraped by on cult-fumes. The major parties denied him an establishment fight, turnout plummeted, and a literal bin took over 26% of the active vote. All hail Binface. 🪐🗑️ #clactonbyelection
