Seen crawling out of a front yard on Clairmont while we were driving down to Decatur from Brookhaven. It looks like its eyes might light up after dark. 😃 ☠️🎃 #SpookySeason
A giant skeleton from the rib cage up, with arms and hands appearing to hoist itself up out of the grassy front lawn of a suburban house. It has a suitably menacing expression on its skull face.

Went from a lovely weekend with a wedding and a visit from our youngest son and his delightful girlfriend, who we had not met before, back to the insane news of the world. I'm actually looking forward to a couple of quiet hours getting my latest PET scan... 🤪

A break from doomscrolling: spotted on our walkies at the Tucker Town Green this morning was this cartoon worthy, salad plate-sized mushroom. At first we thought it was a Frisbee, but then we spotted more of them that had already withered in the ornamental grass. 🍄‍🟫☠️ #SpookySeason
A pale mushroom cap, at least 8" in diameter with brownish center and dark spots. Side view of same large mushroom, showing the thick cap and stem. It looks almost like a creepy pie.

A mostly successful attempt by my sweet mister to recreate "banana pizza," a dish one of my coworkers invented when I worked at the Rivertown LaRosa's Pizza inside Kings Island amusement park back in the mid 1970s. I've yapped about it often enough he decided to try it. 😏

Humaning.
A four-panel comic. In panel 1, a Northern Cardinal and American Goldfinch perch above a busy crowd in a city, looking down. The cardinal says "It's a nice day to go humaning." The goldfinch says "Just look at them. Majestic." In panel 2, a close-up of the two birds. The cardinal says "Nobody tells you that you'll reach a certain age and suddenly get into humaning. I hit 3 years old, and then bam."The birds are looking out over the crowd scene. In panel 3, the cardinal says "Their calls sound funny to us, but each one has a unique meaning." Below, people are saying various things: "I'm tired." "Where's my phone?" "I'd murder a burrito." In panel 4, the birds look down excitedly at a man walking by. The cardinal says "Wait, is that a guy who got dressed in the dark and put his shirt on inside out and backwards?" And the goldfinch exclaims, "Holy... that's a lifer!"

Watching a Julie Andrews documentary on PBS and trying not to bawl like a baby - she's been a vocal idol of mine since Mary Poppins (1964) and one of the best compliments I ever had was to be told by a music teacher that I had the same pure vowels as hers when I sang. Wedding clothes accomplished, thankfully. Apologies for all the whining lately - I apparently need a prompt that asks "Are you sure?" before I'm allowed to post anything. Here's a pretty dragonfly and reflection from our walk at Johns Homestead park the other day.

We never imagined how far that dream would travel, into homes, into hearts, into the way generations imagined what we could still become. In a world that often feels as divided as ever, maybe that's exactly why we need it now: a reminder that unity was always the point.

These two dimbulbs decided to reenact the OK Corral in our back yard this morning. I could hear them yelling at each other in the house, with an exhaust fan running! 🙄 They ran off before really engaging when I went outside, but it's obvious they are frenemies at best.

Took advantage of cooler temps to check out Tucker's newly refurbished Johns Homestead park, with walking trails around the little lake, boardwalk, and heron observation spot (we saw one! 😀) Bonus: a little orange neighborhood kitty who ran up to me in the parking area for a skritch. 😍
View of the boardwalk/fishing spot and the little spillway from the trail on the far side of the lake. Tall green trees surround the area, with a cloudy gray sky overhead.A very new wooden boardwalk with railing, with water on the left side and shoreline on the right, leading to a picnic shelter. Dramatic gray clouds overhead but no rain coming, alas.A square-ish board wall with rectangular cutouts at various heights, to look through at the heron(s) across the lake without being seen. There was one but too far away to get a good phone pic. An older gray haired white woman in a blue t-shirt and khaki shorts in a blacktop parking area, bending over to pet a very sweet and purring young orange cat. (The t-shirt says "READ BANNED BOOKS, which got a compliment from another woman in the lot.)
