In Christian Nationalism, white supremacy, and patriarchy, the oppressor withholds information (opposing viewpoints, isolation from other races, financial autonomy) out of fear that with that new information, people will leave. So the ostracism is severe in an “us vs. them” mentality.

The jury said Elvis Brooks isn't guilty. By pretending he still is, Louisiana's state AG is usurping the authority of the Judicial system. Withholding compensation for a wrongful conviction after the courts have spoken is illegal. And it should get the LA AG disbarred, and so booted.

Chap 8: Former slave owners wanted a bound labor force that was legally obligated to submit to their will. They tried to keep children of former slaves after the parents left/ were evicted off the land. They envisioned that WW were better able to care for black kids than their parents.
