liminal space gaming setup

A dim and eerie corner of a room with a gaming PC, a keyboard & mouse, and two monitors. One displaying the game Buckshot Roulette and the other isn't even plugged in. Cabling is strewn all across the floor. You can faintly hear the boss theme from Sonic CD (US).

third time's the charm...? 😅 ig crusty jpeg artifacting fits the mood of this comic anyway

Panel 1: Me at a computer, with a door seen at the end of the room.
"Playing Overwatch 2 at 3 in the morning"

Panel 2: A cat wearing a santa hat striking a particular pose crashes in through the wall next to the door.
"SOME body...?"

Panel 3: They rummage through the hat looking for something.
"* ruffle ruffle"

Panel 4: The cat excitedly shows a present while I eagerly look.
Cat: "Merry catsmas!"

Panel 5: The eager look turns into one of disgust.

Panel 6: The cat, blissfully unaware, is just presenting a bug.
Me: "That's a cicada..."

Panel 7: The cicada immediately dons a fedora and a voice sample "Turn up the bass and let the speakers blow" repeats in the background. (I'll give you a cookie if you get the reference)

Panel 8: Deep fried image of desktop speakers exploding

might as well, even though I drew this piece a long while ago

A pixel art drawing of me as a witch stirring a glowing cauldron, with my cat anxiously looking in from the side.

yeah definitely. I guess my best advice for getting into it is experimenting with it on an old computer or in a VM before doing anything on a primary PC

I want to add my two cents to the Windows-to-Linux discourse but my experience was trying an Ubuntu dualboot several years ago and not liking it, taking a leap of faith a year or two ago wiping Windows for Pop!_OS, and then recently getting right into the nerd stuff with Arch lol

My advice thread for Windows users looking to switch to Linux: It's A LOT to get used to. Dual boot/install on a separate machine if you can and just mess around in Linux before you completely migrate over. Try out different distros (but read up a little, some are more user-involved than others)

This both great advice and a great example of why I think so many people bounce off Linux. If you are a habitual computer toucher this makes complete sense. If not, this sounds like all you have to do is florp your grabnorx. Simple as, right? If you're Linux curious, here is what it's saying: 1/x

Sharing my wing tutorial for bluesky people! It's light and focuses on propatagium, something that I often found missing when working on client designs. Lastly, check the Alt. text for some commentary. Hope it's helpful! #artsky #tutorial #art #wings #sciart

The image shows oversimplified and idealised wings. Great for some fantasy settings but the bone structure is totally awry.

This image focuses on the leading edge of the wing - the propatagium. It's a membrane that fills the gap between the wrist and shoulder, creating a nice aerodynamic shape.

Final image shows skeletal schematic of the flying vertebrates forelimb: the bat, the bird, the pterosaur. With a funny comparison to the human hand.
