SB104: Bathroom Ban What do you need to do? - You don’t know if your school has trans students. - You don’t see if trans students use the bathroom. - You don’t need to report or tattle on trans students. See nothing, Say nothing. THIS IS WHAT IT MEANS TO BE AN ALLY.

An oldie but a goodie. Even IF you hold the mistaken belief that being trans is a sin, Jesus told us to LOVE everyone, even our enemies. So how is bullying trans kids in any way, shape, or form what Jesus told us to do? Trans kids are being bullied to 💀 by people who claim to be Christian.

If I oppose you it's because it's the best way i know to love you + to love those you are harming. If i hated you i'd want to destroy, defeat, dehumanize you. But I don't want any of that for you. Or me. I want your reformation, your redemption, your restoration into a whole community.

Graffiti art I saw this weekend that says "you 'clean' my art but not the city." The artist drew arrows pointing to a pile of trash on the sidewalk next to their covered over art. A poignant piece of commentary IMHO.

My dad haunts me When I listen to music When he was alive We were distant And music confused me Now that he's gone Music is always close And he feels nearer Than he ever did When his heart beat

Rivers level granite mountains Rains wash the figures from the sundial, The plowshare wears thin in the furrow; And on the fingers of the mighty, The gold of authority is bright With the glitter of attrition. -Sulpicius Lupercus Servasius (c.400) #poem #poetry #patience #faith #justice

Following the news is exhausting, and the exhaustion is part of the intended harm to our community. We have started the Trans civil rights tracker below so that folks can quickly see at a glance the scope of legal barriers to their day to day lives in Ohio: 🏳️‍⚧️ www.transohio.org/trans-civil-... 🏳️‍⚧️

Feeling crushed in my spirit right now, over all that is happening in the US and all the hatred being spewed. This verse is a comfort to me. Maybe it will be a comfort to someone else, too. (Admin K)

Executive Orders have no power on their own. Trans people have always been and will always be here

Executive Orders have no power on their own.

The State Department has to change its policy on passports for there to be any implementation, and that will not happen overnight.

We don’t know what the real effects of the Executive Orders will be. There have not been any concrete changes to legal policies yet.

Not everything proposed is actually something that can be executed. Some of this is meant to just cause fear, and not everything will happen in the same way/timeline everywhere.

There will be legal challenges to the orders.

TO TRANS OHIOANS:
- Trans people have always been and will always be here
- You have never and will never need the government's permission to be trans
- You are trans no matter what your government papers say
- You don't need to tell the government you are trans
- Connect with other trans people, you're not alone and we're going to deal with this together

Trans friends: we have always and always will exist. We are divine children of God. Let us be like the bedrock of the earth: the sea may storm and rage like the bigots who assail us in tremendous fashion, but it can NEVER erode us away. We will survive. We will live. We will resist. God bless you.

Jesus laying down his life out of love for the world rather than using all cosmic and political power to force the world to obey him will forever be the greatest critique of any Christian movement that seeks to secure power in order to ensure that others conform to their will.
