too-frequent uploads are one of many warning signs but sometimes it's not immediately obvious because they ape footage from (legit) docs and just re-cut it together. and of course sorting by date is nonexistent. I know it's all hell but I feel the hell of it more strongly on some days

the total proliferation of youtube slopumentaries on every possible subject is horribly depressing but the history ones break my heart the most bc sometimes the "humanmade" channels still break out the (undisclosed) slop for their visuals or voiceovers or whatever. It sucks. It really sucks

that's what makes ryoko kui so inspirational. not into food OR men like senshi and you'd literally never even know it. She's just that good

not to get instantly sidetracked but I think that's what I love so much about reading a well-written fantasy, you can USUALLY tell what the author's special interest is (like Tolkien & linguistics!), and maybe what they gloss over in a hurry so no one spots their boredom/inexperience with the topic

For FAHAH (which I finished writing earlier this year!!) I was able to get amazing reference from the book Bountiful Empire by Priscilla Mary Işın all about the foodways of the classic Ottoman Empire. I love reading about food and history!! (But now I'm in the deep waters of gen fantasy & help)

really respect the inimitable Ryoko Kui for being a picky eater who so fluently passes as a cookingmaxxer. I'm not picky anymore but I do have Food Habits (autism) and am currently trying to invent a fantasy cuisine. Very aware of the possibly sacrilegious way I am slapping things together

that is such a good approach!! It makes things more sustainable long-term. I was determined to be God's Stubbornest Soldier about it (silly behavior!! do not recommend.) I can't wait to sit down and get caught up with S&I again, the pacing is excellent 😊👌✨ we eat dinner so we can have dessert!!

smashes like on this thread... it takes a certain kind of masochist with comics 😭 I hustled for years and never even came close to reaching the Juicy Parts, and that's why I write prose now lol. There's definitely a way to do it in a more reasonable timeframe but it's such a balancing act!
