I've been selling phones half my life and I have to say... you are not wrong. The big brands especially are effectively releasing the same phones with minor upgrades every year. All the major changes are at a software level to include more AI and things to subscribe to. Check out GrapheneOS.

You know that grok was a word long before Musk named his AI after it. It means to understand something very well. www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/g...

I know Tony and Wendy well. They're good friends and long-time Greens, and they've spent decades fighting to protect the Hunter Valley they love. Today they took on the fossil fuel giants and got an important win.

Sure, let's root for millions of people, many of them will be kids, to get sick or die to show one small group of powerful people what's up. That sounds perfectly reasonable.

If, fundamentally, you cannot hold the most powerful person in your country accountable for raping children there's nothing else you can fix. Your country is done, finished, over. No longer worth a seat at the table with civilised nations.

I disagree. He's angry. People are angry. We need to tap that anger and direct it where it belongs - billionaires and political corruption. I think he can do it.

100% Skyrim is a mediocre game on its own. Oblivion was much better. Add mods though and suddenly it's incredible. I feel like if you're going into any Elder Scrolls game without considering mods you're missing out.

They'll just blame Labor for it all, all the time. Same playbook as America, they're still blaming Biden/democrats and it's been two years. These kind of people are incapable of accepting responsibility for any problems they cause.

On a more positive note, Daly Cherry-Evans kicked a field goal to win the Roosters the Grand Final in his last game in the NRL, on my birthday. Great present! Gonna miss DCE's kicking and game IQ. Wishing him all the best in the Super League. #nrl #roosters

Reports say that she broke a test tube and inhaled the contents. I'd say she got a mega dose that didn't respond to treatment.

What I watched enterprise for the first time and got to that episode I was like 'wtf is happening, this is gonna be insane' and then it was just a wholly average episode.

Mine is that one single episode in Enterprise where they just fully change the intro for no real reason.

End AUKUS, but not military aid to Ukraine. David usually I'm on board with all your policies but not that one. Ukraine needs more than humanitarian aid and sanctions on Russia.

Could we get a screening in Adelaide?

Nick @longertables.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
Yep. I am a chopper pilot in Battlefield 6 and anything less than 60 you simply cannot fly the chopper. You won't hit anything except at point blank range and you'll struggle with high speed low alt manoeuvres which is like 90% of flying on most maps. Even 60 is a little low, I prefer above 90.

Fps games are 60 minimum for multiplayer. Anything below and gameplay is noticeably worse.

Lovely straw man. Well done. I can see why you support state sanctioned murder.
100
Nick @longertables.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Yes, murder is murder including in war. That's why soldiers aren't immune from being arrested for war crimes. Nuremberg ring any bells? Murder doesn't magically become okay because it's approved by a panel of judges. It is still murder, no matter the process used to arrive at the end result.

Nick @longertables.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Taking the equivalent from them is revenge. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. I didn't miss anything, I gave an example of where your logic leads. It's also the reason why most of the civilised world has gotten rid of the death penalty. You cannot achieve justice by committing the same crime
100
Nick @longertables.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
No it can't. By that logic a family member 'executing' the murderer is justice and not revenge because it's 'justified'. Why bother with a state process at all? Should we start having state sanctioned rape as punishment for rapists? That would be justice according to your logic.

Why doesn't Labor work with the Greens to tax gas? Why doesn't Labor work with the Greens to build public housing? Why doesn't Labor work with the Greens to end AUKUS? Greens are happy to be constructive about things that materially benefit the public. We are not a rubber stamp.

Nick @longertables.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
No it isn't. If murder is wrong, then murder cannot magically transform into justice just because it is sanctioned by the state. If it was wrong for the murderer to do it, it is wrong for the state to hide behind sanctioned murder as 'justice'.

Neither of those people are liberal or Zionists. Mamdani is a social Democrat and a Muslim who wanted to prevent Netanyahu speaking at the UN and explored every option he had as mayor to either arrest him or prevent him from coming to New York.

I wasn't going to say anything at all, but a few lovely souls expressed concern when I stopped incessantly posting my rage, grief, work, bad humour and fluffy animals.

I have just taken a smidgen of annual leave. It's been a while. And a crucial part of that actually helping me is being offline as much as (fucken) possible for a lil’ bit. The last few years have been… I dunno what the appropriate word is… let's just go with difficult. Hard.

I'm not running away. Not retreating. Just breathing. Being invisible. Being human. I’d encourage everyone to do the same when and if the moment presents itself. The world is heavy, the fight is eternal, resistance is a collective effort, and these machines and platforms - as integral and powerful as they have become - feed on our souls. Please don't worry. Just having a moment. Thank you for caring xx

I think that Maureen Faruqi or David Shoebridge would be the best candidates. Sarah Hanson-Young is an absolute weapon in legislation, but I don't think she's the person to bring in new voters.

Google is updating its satellite images of Gaza. The comprehensiveness of effort required to reduce an urban landscape to this is beyond imagining. Literal carpet bombing.

This is why fuel prices are pushing $3 a litre. Because Trump has no idea how to end the war he (and Netanyahu) started with Iran. That’s the war that Labor, the Coalition and One Nation all cheered on in February. It’s the war the Greens opposed. The only party that did.

It's still wild to me that the Signal thing happened and that wasn't the end of the entire administration. That was some shit you wouldn't read in a book because it would be too unrealistic, and now its a just footnote in what this idiot has done.

There's heaps of good games on mobile. Slay the Spire, Balatro, Terraria, Minecraft, Stardew Valley and many others. If you have good internet you can also use SteamLink and play anything in your Steam Library.
