It's been a rough morning. Kid is having super bad lows for no discernable reason. Discovered I have a cut which is Not Looking Good. Just got diagnosed with hearing loss. And on the way to the audiologist and while getting an urgent call from the school nurse, a squirrel ran right under my car.

I had "off broadway" in my kid's schedule for months and months and couldn't figure out what it was. There weren't any shows at that time. I eventually deleted it assuming it was some kind of mistake. Apparently Off Broadway is the name of my kid's dentist.

The Garden in a Box is planted, edged, and mulched. (Wood mulch this time because it's under a tree.) I have a few plants I started from seed still to plant. And I need one replacement plant for something that didn't survive summer. I only lost 1 out of 35 plants, so not bad. #nativeplants

Btw while I have your attention on diet and climate, “eat local” also isn’t a real climate strategy either. To reduce climate impact: 1. Minimize your food waste 2. Eat more plants and less animal-based foods (esp beef and lamb) 3. Everything else matters a lot less (so eat what you like)

I used to live a few blocks from a military museum in Baton Rouge. Every year on July 4th and Veterans Day they did a flyover low over my home. And every year despite knowing it was coming, I dove under a table. Being forewarned doesn't really help.
