Yup! I used InDesign again this week for the first time in... probably three years. The undo command breaking is unforgivable if I'm honest. It slowed me down SO much.

Yeah, I don't find this complicated at all. As someone who was an HP fan in childhood, it's incredibly easy to not spend any money on this franchise. I still have books and dvds from back then... but will I ever spend money on it again knowing JKs horrific motives? Fuck no.

I think it's just the journalist that describes the decision as 'impossible', but yeah I agree. She's very cool for posting about it. A lot of people would feel like a failure for doing this, when actually she's pushed farther than most. People die on mountains without that kind of mindset.

It took me almost 2 hours to fix a bug in Figma that was a tucked away single checkbox. If anybody is using a variable font, you're going to want to uncheck this pain in the ass setting for auto optical sizing. Some people love this, it's not fun when working on a shared file with variables.

I feel like my energy belongs in different places now. Social media is feelings pointless and draining.

My last post was 3 months ago, and that's a great indicator of how I've been feeling about work lately. However, I've just started at a new job that's given me a real new joy for what I do ❤️ Hoping to bring some level of positivity here, but also heavily relating to a big need to switch off too.

Is there anybody in my network who is a brand designer looking for a small job for a good friend of mine? It's for her new company she's setting up for contracting.

I do also have train tickets from Long Eaton (could also probably travel from Derby/Notts using these), and a hotel stay in the speaker Travelodge (although I don't think you can technically transfer this) for the night before and after. Please if you know anyone who would want that too...

Lex Lofthouse @loftio.co.uk · 24/02/2026

I'm having a really rough time right now, and I know seeing people would help, but I also know the travel and hotel stays and all of the elements combined would probably be worse for my health in the long run. I'm burnt out rn and I need to rest 😮‍💨

Lex Lofthouse @loftio.co.uk · 24/02/2026

I don't know if there's a way I can gift or transfer my ticket to someone who may need or want it? I don't want an empty seat there, so if that's possible, please let me know and I'd be happy to transfer my ticket to the event.

I really really don't want to, but I don't think I have the mental energy at the moment to travel to London this weekend for @londonwebstandards.org State of the Browser. I'm regretful, because I really want to see all the talks and spend time with some good people, but for my own health it's best.

I mean in terms of visuals and written content to accompany. I don't want essays of content, but would like to have it detailed enough.

Designer pals, I'd like to update my website with some nice portfolio work. Any advice on what I should put on there? I'd like to focus on web design projects, including UX and UI.

A black cat called Mavis is sat on a big green blanket on the sofa of my lounge. There is a mantelpiece with Christmas lights behind her. She stares down the camera lens, clearly not loving being photographed.
