s/s of 26 January 2025 post on Truth Social by Donald Trump of an AI image of him looking like a mob boss gangster in a dark suit and fedora hat. There is a crudely-drawn sign behind him which has a smiley face below the acronym FAFO (fuck around find out)

Mar-a-Lago face makes women smile even when they don't want to and eliminates all traces of involuntary disgust at Donald Trump and his essence. Keeps those women in the master's house Trump can't handle it when women don't smile. Especially when they are asking difficult questions about real truth

That's awful for her and it must've been so hard for you, that wasn't fair at all. There was a whole generation of people whose parents were emotionally distant (culture? two world wars?) but demonstrated affection through the sharing of sugar. Special days are sugar days. Sweet hits dopamine

TIL the origin image of the classic Bluesky meme is from a real book called Intersubjectivity and the Double: Troubled Matters by Brian Seitz.
Grey-blue wash image showing a short-haired bearded white bloke in a mid-grey Henley shirt (long sleeve scoop neck 3 buttons) and dark braces (US: suspenders) from behind on the right side, his left hand on the glass, looking at his reflection which is centre place in the large framed mirror before him.
He has the look of someone comprehending a profound error.
Like Ryan Gosling realising he's sharted in public

The cover is showing post-shart Ryan Gosling from the popular Bluesky educational meme "Did I just argue with a joke?"
{religion and philosophy)

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Intersubjectivity-Double-Troubled-Brian-Seitz-ebook/dp/B0DF64TZXV[blurb] This book extends philosophy’s engagement with the double beyond hierarchized binary oppositions. Brian Seitz explores the double as a necessary ontological condition or figure that gets represented, enacted, and performed repeatedly and in a myriad of configurations. Seitz suggests that the double in all of its forms is simultaneously philosophy’s shadow, its nemesis, and the condition of its possibility. This book expands definitions and investigations of the double beyond the confines of philosophy, suggesting that the concept is at work in many other fields including politics, cultural narratives, literature, mythology, and psychology. Seitz approaches the double by means of a series of case studies and by engaging loosely in eidetic variation, a methodological maneuver borrowed from phenomenology. The book explores the ways in which wide-ranging instances of the double are connected by the dynamics of intersubjectivity.

The image is of a four panel comic.
The first panel shows a black cat. The text above the cat reads, "For a long time, black cats were said to be evil and working with the Devil."
The second panel zooms out and shows Sarah, the protagonist, next to the cat. The text above the pair reads "But now we know that's not true."
The third panel shows Sarah hugging the black cat.
The fourth panel shows an orange cat behind Sarah, standing with its arms reaching up as a fire blazes behind it. The text reads, "It's the orange cats."

Jane @localnotail.bsky.social · 13h
See Kemi is a fan of impossible things.
Zoom in on a photo of Kemi Badenoch sitting at a laptop which has a full lid over of a blueprint for impossible objects that fit together: a 3 pronged one (blivet, impossible trident) that goes through a rectangular one and is projected to be fixed after passing through by hex bolts which are also impossible.

I dunno, reckon she just lives in her little Kemi Bubble where everything is fine for everyone who looks like her, and transposes that experience to the rest of the country where Black English footballers have been told they aren't English for longer than she's been alive & it's still happening.

I did this because I was raised in the 1970s by parents who had grown up under rationing and succumbed to the ensuing culture of celebratory sugary treats that came in the years where such things were marketed and habitually provided. Easy access to cakes, biscuits and treats made me a sugar addict

Can I ask what you mean by that?

Jane @localnotail.bsky.social · 14h
Yes, there are many situations where restrictions that are unequally applied can lead to an unhealthy relationship with substances. It can be very hard to overcome a hit that is also cloaked in emotional connection of forbiddance. Best of luck with finding a way to get on better terms with it.

I kept my child off as much sugar as I could - no cakes, biscuits or sweets - until they were over 2, despite strong opposition from boomer MIL who said I was being mean to deprive them. Never felt more vindicated. The first 1,000 days of sugar exposure could leave a decades-long mark on health.

That said, lots of things have sweeteners in now instead of sugar, which have been linked to depression. I don't think caffeine in energy drinks helps them much either. It can also trigger fits.

Do we need more clues to work out why today's youth are anxious? Our government cut funding to youth support services from 2010 onwards, failed to repair schools or fund education sufficiently, Brexit and Covid narrowed their horizons, employment is hard to progress through, war is brewing in Europe

I hope this gets the attention that it merits - "people who had spent the full first 1,000 days of life under sugar rationing had a 33% lower risk of being diagnosed with anxiety than those born after rationing ended." www.theguardian.com/society/2026...

Most of the people I've met in half a dozen trips to different sides of America since 1989 have been really very polite individuals. It would be great if Americans could use the midterms to send a clear message that Trump is a cunt, without having to say it out loud.
