gouache painting of two bears holding a tree trunk. a squirrel sits on top, directing them right. they wear acorn hats. behind them are a large tree, a hill with a stump and planks of wood, and a sunsetting sky. the painting sits on a grid mat, with paintbrushes and a palette surrounding the paper. text reads: localkristine

They quoted me in this New Yorker piece about AI today. www.newyorker.com/culture/the-...

“Let’s say there’s a world or time line I exist in where A.I. has been subject to regulation. It is ethical. It has no footprint environmentally,” the novelist Jeff VanderMeer, a prominent critic of A.I., told me over the phone. “With those guardrails in place, would I read an A.I. book? All I can say is no. And the reason is, in part, because I want to read something coming from a particular mind.” Using A.I., he said, “feels like a betrayal of the whole point of why you’re a writer.”

We can learn from our queer elders 🫶🏻

bisubites 4h
when my masc lesbian aunt died, women just kept coming, screaming, crying, and saying they were her wives. Eventually we just had to start telling them to join the others. They were all devastated to learn about each other. Except for one who came in, kissed her dead mouth and showed us all that they had matching tattoos. She actually won all the mourning wives over and they all agreed she was the wife. It was so weird.

Did not expect more than a few people to see this but yes it really happened, yes it was insane

That phrase reads like "I don't have any friends with serious health issues." I know a lot of people who mask on public transit as it's a high risk area (small space, you don't know people) even if they don't mask everywhere.

my personal primary use-case to learning ASL is being able to communicate while audibly non-verbal + while masked in public! but i've also always loved the language (and have tried to take it up a few times before but was follied by chronic ills)! this time thoooo! i hope, i dream

Take a break from being depressed that everything you love is being destroyed by slop for a moment and let me tell you about the beautiful symbiotic relationship between graffiti writers, train yard workers, and model train enthusiasts.

Crudely drawn bunny character holding a pencil, messy hand lettering surrounds them in orange to green gradient color. It says in all caps:

Stop using AI for your flyers & logos! They look like shit, everybody thinks so! Seriously, you’re losing business. Just make it yourself or hire a real artist.

My wife wanted me to try her gluten-free ramen so she extended a fork full of them towards me. I put my hand under them, as one does, so they didn't drip on the table and she dumped the pile of noodles onto my palm, like that's what I wanted, with complete confidence. I love my wife.

like wdym someone is an open, easy, decisive collaborator, hears your rate range and says "sure i can pay the max but if we goes over time/out of scope i'll find a way to do more" and is straightforward that they want to pay you for future support and want to get you paid if they can

next simplification step was reducing the point system from 4 levels to 3. the idea was that certain actions would only unlock at a certain level. it would also change relationships if you were too high! with looming deadlines, now i'm removing the points altogether, haha. mb next time!

000

kbb ★ (/ ' ワ')/ ~♡ @localkristine.com · 13/08/2026

first step was removing the core narrative from Fetch Quests to "how can i make this game a fun toy?" so now you're just exploring the marketplace, meeting the people, and having a Day!
