In one of my trawls of Revolutionary War-era stuff, I tripped over the account of a pastor who oversaw the peaceful protest against the village mayor. He made sure no one looted the mayor’s house as they disassembled it brick by brick, and then had them stack the bricks in neat piles.

I got really annoyed that so many stories about the "Cornell 7" case don't link to the underlying court documents. So I compiled the key filings from Jane Doe's civil suit and from a separate suit brought by one of the accused. Read them here: annabower.substack.com/p/read-the-c...

Alll of this. I started my career in construction, working office jobs alongside people who worked trades. Know how many 60-year-old guys I saw working as bricklayers? Doing demo? Zero. How many 50-year-old roofers there are? Zero. One reason unions fight for high wages is because careers are SHORT.

Closeup of a brown canvas jacket. It had a long vertical tear in it. The tear has been mended in light blue, dark blue, and white, the colors of the Minnesota State Flag. A white star is sewn near the top of the tear.
