Just accepted invitation to (double blind) peer review an article. First document I downloaded includes the author's name and university. Emailed journal saying I'll now have to withdraw. What a waste of everyone's time.

I've been waiting for a whiteboard to be put in my newly "refurbished" (dubious) office. Had a post it on wall indicating where it was to be mounted. I would like to know more about the decisions involved in removing post it, mounting whiteboard, returning post it to same general location.
A white board, mounted on a wall. In roughly the centre a small yellow post it reads "whiteboard"

It's 3 months since my building had toilets and 2 weeks since teaching restarted. Everyone is walking 10k steps a day between office and toilet. New allegiances have formed based on where you choose to trek. Colleagues talk in hushed tones about these toilets across the magical bridge

The furry RA turned 17 years old at the weekend. His commitment to work is unwavering though and he checked in for his duties around 11am this morning, not even taking a break for lunch when I did. Probably due a promotion to Research Fellow at this point.

Top tip: don't leave the AI summary in your email to me. Especially when the AI warns you I don't accept AI generated proposals. How do people not understand that parsing information about my research match to your proposal is part of the test to see whether you have the capacity for PhD study?

Except the Palace of Culture and Science (epic name, epic building) I haven't seen anything of Warsaw because post op fatigue takes me out each day at 4pm, and yesterday and today I've been a textbook example of cold and fever. Very disappointed to have come all this way and missed the place I'm in

I went to Dollywood for my 40th birthday and it was everything you could have wished and more. It's staffed by people who all seem to love being there, offers a million kinds of entertainment and, even in the Tennessee rain, we smiled all day long. Isn't that the very essence of Dolly?

It's really, REALLY annoying when Google scholar takes you to a piece of work which misrepresents your work so egregiously. Our work did NOT show that access to lesbian space is declining, nor does it support the claim that access to lesbian space stops people "mistaking" themselves for trans men.

It might be worth reminding ourselves that a person does not have to be saintly or error-free to not be hounded to death. That discourse can get very dangerous very quickly.

I see a lot of "if you can't do a review, decline it in a timely way, recently someone didn't respond for x weeks and then declined: so rude!!" but I've been on sick leave for 8 weeks, out of office on, and I can see from follow ups that ManuscriptCentral isn't logging OoO replies for editors. The authoritarian community of pure Welsh society run by the very purest men is gone, hence the retrospective title. It’s probably Britain’s most overtly fascist novel. Obviously the much-loved 1939 film cuts all of this and just features every Irish actor in America singing a lot.

Private Eye tells me that How Green Was My Valley is one of Andy Burnham’s favourite books. Oh dear. I write a PhD on 1930s Welsh mining novels, including a whole chapter on Llewellyn’s work. I even read the terrible sequels. It really, really isn’t a story of working-class solidarity etc.

There comes a point in every major international where I think "why shouldn't I watch an England game, just for a little treat?" And then I remember, again, why I should not in fact do that. It's the England experience distilled to a single match. Very efficient of me.

It's easy and convenient for institutions that help perpetuate the transmisogyny and broader transphobia that clearly contributed to Brianna Ghey's death to blame social media or extreme online content or whatever. It doesn't explain why her killers saw her as somebody they were allowed to hurt.
