The report does say "However, the evidence suggests we are entering a phase in which the balance of risks between underdiagnosis, misdiagnosis and overdiagnosis may be changing". It is most certainly not the claim the BBC have made it which is giving AI summary

Wes Streeting didn't conduct the review, or write it. The qualifications and methodology of those who produced the report are readily available. And the report doesn't have much in common with the hollowed out headline. www.gov.uk/government/p...

Independent review into mental health conditions, ADHD and autism: executive summary

Lizzie Reed @lizziereed.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
All of this is from the executive summary. If you read the full report the foreword will give you more valuable context to the way this review has been done. From that: "young people today are contending with more powerful forces than I ever faced. They are not fragile. They are outnumbered."

Lizzie Reed @lizziereed.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
Co-occuring conditions are ignored because of how assessments and support is commissioned. This causes harm. It's really, really hard to read this careful review as anything other than balanced, clear and demanding of better care for everyone.

Health is worsened by avoidable conditions: "government should reduce avoidable distress and improve wellbeing while ensuring that children are not left to adapt to systems and environments that create or compound their difficulties."

Lizzie Reed @lizziereed.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
is increasing risks of all of them and that causes harm. Poor, looked after, ethnic and racial minority children are all less likely to be connected with services and this is a deepening of inequality. Diagnosis is often the end point instead of providing route to help. This is unacceptable
130
Lizzie Reed @lizziereed.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
Diagnosis is not need. I.e. What people need to alleviate functional difficulties and distress is not always indicated through diagnosis and alternative route to quality support are needed. Overdiagnosis, misdiagnosis and under diagnosis are ALWAYS risks, right now poor access to services
130
Lizzie Reed @lizziereed.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
Just a reminder that you can read a review directly, rather than relying on bad faith headlines. You're likely to find a compassionate and ambitious set of recommendations: www.gov.uk/government/p... For e.g. social, cultural and economic conditions are increasing mental distress and govt must act

Is Stranger Things sci-fi, or is it supernatural horror? I'm aware it's a genre blending thing, but if you were reading about tv sci fi from the last 40ish years, would it feel like a clanger to be omitted?

Are you: - a trans woman or a non-binary person with a prostate? - aged 40+? - on oestrogen and/or post-op for bottom surgery? - based in the UK? The TransPRIDE study invites you to participate in research to inform better trans-inclusive prostate care! transpridestudy.org.uk
Recruitment poster with text that reads as follows. Trans or non-binary?
Join us in research led by and for trans people to improve our healthcare.

TransPRIDE (Trans & non-binary Prostate specific antigen Reference Interval
DEtermination) is a research study to help find the normal levels of the PSA blood test in trans women and non-binary people with prostates.
Prostate specific antigen (PSA) is a blood test that helps detect prostate
problems including cancer.

It is lowered by gender-affirming hormones and surgeries but we do not
know the expected normal levels for trans women and non-binary people.

Knowing the normal PSA blood test level will help doctors to find and treat prostate cancer more quickly in this population.

We are looking for 500 trans women and non-binary people aged 40+ who have been on feminising hormone therapy for at least 3 months, and/or had any kind of bottom surgery, to take part.

Participation involves a blood test for PSA and hormone levels, and short
questionnaires.

Blood test results will be returned, and participants are given a £25 gift
voucher for their time.

Zoopla shows it's just been reduced by £110,000 after first being listed in June? Based on a couple of photos (peeling wallpaper on ceiling, very odd vertical mark up wall next to fireplace) I'd guess they had a buyer and survey said rewire, strip to brick inside and out for damp?

I've been waiting for a whiteboard to be put in my newly "refurbished" (dubious) office. Had a post it on wall indicating where it was to be mounted. I would like to know more about the decisions involved in removing post it, mounting whiteboard, returning post it to same general location.
A white board, mounted on a wall. In roughly the centre a small yellow post it reads "whiteboard"

It's 3 months since my building had toilets and 2 weeks since teaching restarted. Everyone is walking 10k steps a day between office and toilet. New allegiances have formed based on where you choose to trek. Colleagues talk in hushed tones about these toilets across the magical bridge
Each basin has a tall oval mirror with a thin black frame above it. Lighting above gives a warm, soft glow against the white tile with orange grout. The flooring is a light terrazzo with dark speckles.
