Imagine being told by hundreds of lawyers, identified by name and in their own words, about how abortion concretely allowed them to build their lives, careers, and/or families in their own terms and then dismissing that as abstract. This is what we fight for: www.supremecourt.gov/DocketPDF/18...

1,200 sexual assault cases were filed at Cornell from 2018 to 2024. Most of those found responsible received minor sanctions that allowed them to remain on campus, such as probation or training. Only 7 ended in expulsion or dismissal. www.usatoday.com/story/news/n...

Cornell rarely expels students in sex assault cases | Exclusive
A third of undergraduate women say they've been sexually assaulted. But on average, Cornell reported expelling just one attacker per year.

One anecdote: I was naturalized in August after nearly three months post-interview waiting for them to act. It took multiple senatorial inquiries and my signaling I’d sue under Section 1447(b) for them to officially approve me and very quickly schedule me for the oath… on day 119 post interview.

Abortion is reproductive healthcare, because sometimes having a child can literally kill you. And I cannot tell you how it angers me that at the same time, Black women like Tierra Walker dying, RFK cut funding for research into infant and mother mortality, to fund his security detail.

I found myself dining alone as my husband is stricken with plague, and as I looked for a new book from my shelf to keep me company, I wanted something that paired well with the female rage I’m feeling. I pulled Burning Girls and Other Stories by Schanoes. What a read, though I just started.

I feel so much heartbreak and rage about the Cornell sexual violence story, but here’s one good thing: these student journalists speaking truth to power and doing their job to hold the perpetrators, and their individual and institutional accomplices, accountable. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/29/n...

We’re 15-year-out spring chickens so that’s definitely part of the conversation here 😬 Robert also points out that nobody cares to follow the intricacies of these school-to-school differences in the real world so it’s a wash.

PS: Robert informs me there was a BSE and an AB option for Computer Science, specifically—the difference being mostly the prerequisites (which IMO any student in an AB science program would likely meet anyway)

Degree nomenclature is weird. At Princeton the bachelor of science degrees were exclusively in engineering (and there wasn’t a computer engineering option, though it was a concentration/major on the bachelor of arts side). My molecular biology degree would have been an AB, too.

My understanding is this broke containment now because it was reposted to Converse’s US Instagram (where it was taken down) and threads (where it’s still up… I just saw it). Threads mentions Karina in text but it’s just this picture—no other stills. So someone in the US saw and let this through.

It was so moving! 39 countries and journeys represented among 100 new citizens. My affirmation was by Senior Judge Kiyo Matsumoto, who spoke poignantly of her family arriving in the U.S. in 1904 as anti-Asian nativist sentiment prevailed. A timely mix of heartbreak, rage, inspiration and hope.

Birthdate and name matches are causing US Citizens to get arrested in error by ICE as they board airplanes. This is the same level of rigor they're bringing to claims of fraudulent voting, and is obvious as an error-prone method to anyone who has taken an introductory stats class.

I know I’m preaching to the choir! Sharing that perspective because I argue/appeal/ask for peer-to-peer and argue with the doctors and insurer as needed somewhat often as a frequent traveler in the medicine dep’t. YMMV whether worth the time and energy. Glad you’re getting the scan and good luck!

Lin Meneguin @linmeneguin.bsky.social · 29/07/2026
I hear that. It strikes me as a ridiculous way for an insurer to look at the issue, as knowing whether you have CAD on top of electrical issues would, I’m sure, be helpful info for your doctor in deciding how to manage you. The score helps mine (and my HF was likely from rheumatological origin)

For a future time, flagging that some insurers cover it for intermediate-risk patients (including some immediate relatives of folks with early heart attacks). Depends on the facts, the plan, and you/your doctor’s willingness to argue with insurance! They don’t cover if it looks preventive only.

Lin Meneguin @linmeneguin.bsky.social · 29/07/2026
I assume your cardiologist would have tried to get it covered if intermediate-risk guidelines applied, but flagging just in case (documenting the indication may be work, but less than peer to peer?). I had a CAC fully covered because it was diagnostic as part of my cardiac work-up years ago.

As an auto-immune patient with a long history, it is not often that I go to the doctor and come back with good news. In the last few hours, I got results from separate follow-up testing on unrelated systems and both said “no worries, old thing resolved, come back in a couple of years.” (!!!)
