Vote early and in person, folks. If you're in a "vote by mail" state and can deliver your mail-in vote directly rather than relying on USPS this year, do it. Otherwise get it into the mail at the earliest possible date. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

I usually design my business cards to be conversation-starters. But at after too many endless awkward discussions at recent events, I realized I needed a new type of card. The conversation-ender.

A stack of business cards reads in English and Korean: Generative AI is unethical, annoying, and anti-art. Anything it touches will fail, and be a mark of shame on human history. I do not wish to discuss this further.

The LAPD union is spending millions to defeat a half cent sales tax that would fund firefighters www.latimes.com/california/s...

The Los Angeles Police Department's officer union said Tuesday it will oppose Measure FD, the half-cent sales tax measure on the Nov. 3 ballot pushed by the city firefighters' union - setting up a bitter and expensive clash between two of the city's most powerful unions.
The Police Protective League said it plans to spend several million dollars on broadcast and digital advertising as well as mailers to oppose Measure FD, which if approved by voters would direct hundreds of millions of dollars annually to the Fire Department to build new stations, hire firefighters and upgrade

A good fresh Star Trek take on those fake isekai title jokes

A tumblr screenshot showing a post and two reblog responses, reading:
1. "star trek would be the ideal fictional universe to get trapped in because you'd explain your situation and they'd be like yeah makes sense. no further questions. fortunately we can use the mysterious warp signature emitting from this system's icy moon to counterface with the solar radiation and slingshot you back home"
2. "I'm from a universe where your world is all a work of fiction." Benjamin Sisko, nodding. "That happened to me once."
3. "I Got Isekaid Into The Star Trek Universe And They Quickly Understood What Was Happening"

I was once misguided on the romance genre. I had no idea how much variety and nuance existed and judged it because of my own ignorance and internalized misogyny. It’s small minded. I’m glad I rid myself of that notion because ruling out an entire genre would have deprived me of my favorite books.

010

Lindz @lindz.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

Trashing the romance genre is such low hanging fruit too. I said it on the post you quoted but it’s so funny to trash romance when romance is the behemoth that bankrolls all other genres. I also get extra mad because I had this dumbass take when I was younger. Internalized misogyny all around 🙄

060

Lindz @lindz.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

Love how authors like this will trash the very genre that bankrolls most of the publishing industry. I bet she enjoys the money she gets for her “high brow” books. Try it without romance readers and writers, I’m sure it’ll be fine lol

And it’s not like they haven’t tried to get rid of the human element. Cost and complexity makes “automated” clothing construction a current impossibility. The common customer isn’t going to pay hundreds of dollars for a T-shirt.

020

Lindz @lindz.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

Absolutely agree that this is an insanely privileged take regarding books. But also THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS MACHINE MADE CLOTHING. All constructed garments are touched by human hands. Even “custom-made” clothing uses a sewing machine. There is no difference other than scale and working conditions

150

Lindz @lindz.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

Not necessarily hand stitched, but absolutely human made. Automated garment construction has yet to be a thing due to the complexity.
