What happened in Belfast last night should terrify us all. This is where the politics of division and unaccountable billionaires practising ‘freedom of speech’ on the social media platforms they’ve bought (and tweaked the algorithms so extreme right wing content is amplified) takes us.

Don't think Westminster has really clocked that the Green Party stands quite a strong chance of being in Government in Wales (as a partner to Plaid Cymru) after May open.substack.com/pub/willhayw...
Latest YouGov poll has Plaid Cymru with 43 seats after May, short of a majority. Greens would be them over the line with 10 seats

In which Mumsnet women persuade each other that voting Reform will give the establishment “a kick in the arse” Oh well done, you lot. Brexit again. Falling for the con and risking it all, cos that’ll teach them. It won’t. It’ll just ruin life for everyone. Your children most of all. (Sunday Times)
Headline:

Left-leaning mothers of Mumsnet are deserting Labour for Reform

Extract:

Reform has become the top political party for traditionally left-leaning
mothers. a survey of
Mumsnet users found, in what has been taken as a wake-up call for Labour.
The parenting forum has become a barometer for mothers voting intentions.
Analysis of Murnsnet conversations correctly
predicted the country would choose to leave the EU in the
2016 referendum.
Now research shows 20 per cent of users intend to vote Reform UK in the next election, placing the party ahead of Labour, the Tories and the Liberal Democrats. It is the first time since the Mumsnet political poll began in 2009 that Labour has been usurped by any party.
Justine Roberts, the co-founder of Mumsnet, said she was surprised by the results from the poll of more than 1,000 adults, but understood
"why many mums have hecome disillusioned" with
the government.
Analysis or conversduons on Mumsnet found there was anger about rising taxes, failed welfare reforms, NHS pressures and the perceived effect ofimmigration on public services.
a general disillusionment with Labour having not achieved what people hoped they would have achieved.
There is also increasing worry about two issues, the cost of living and immigration.

In November, Shabana Mahmoud, the home secretary, announced changes to make it less attractive to claim asylum in the UK and easier to remove failed asylum seekers.
Roberts said: "Shabana
Mahmood's latest sally on immigration, I think, may land with our users, because what they want is effective government. They want people to effectively deal with these issues. But, if they don't, and they carry on bundling along as they are - that goes for Labour and the Tories - people will vote for Reform, even if it feels like a protest vote.”
Many of those intending to vote for Reform suggested it was a protest against Labour and the Conservatives.
One user said: "I will vote
Reform. I am educated and never thought I would say this but the establishment needs a kick in the arse. Of course Reform won't last but it will kick existing parties into shape. Sorry but nothing can stop them now."

My recent trip to Brussels for the @NATO Ministerial meeting left me with one overriding impression: the US has long failed to address the glaring inconsistency between its relations with NATO and the EU. These are almost all the same countries in both organizations. When these countries wear their NATO hats, they insist that Transatlantic cooperation is the cornerstone of our mutual security. But when these countries wear their EU hats, they pursue all sorts of agendas that are often utterly adverse to US interests and security-including censorship, economic suicide/climate fanaticism, open borders, disdain for national sovereignty/promotion of multilateral governance and taxation, support for Communist Cuba, etc etc. This inconsistency cannot continue. Either the great nations of Europe are our partners in protecting the Western civilization that we inherited from them or they are not. But we cannot pretend that we are partners while those nations allow the EU's unelected, undemocratic, and unrepresentative bureaucracy in Brussels to pursue policies of civilizational suicide.
