Totally understandable! As an undergrad in a lab for the first time, I thought the buffer was called XTAE. The stock was at a concentration of 50 (mystery units) XTAE and you diluted it to 1 (mystery unit) XTAE for running gels. Made perfect sense.

Mostly, people never look at the “boring” funding info of any article. In 2026 it can be used to tell a story on how your grant was terminated. 🧪“The content is solely the responsibility of the authors & does not represent the official views of the funders (NIH & ACS).” 💀😭
This work was supported in part by: (1) National Institutes of Health
(NIH) award R01MD012793 (awarded to N.K.), for all work completed before February 28, 2025, when NIH terminated the grant award due to categorizing it as being "DEI" (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion), with the justification being that under the new federal administration (commencing January 20, 2025), "it is the policy of NIH not to prioritize such research programs," as revealed in a February 28, 2025 NIH memo published by Nature on March 6, 2025 (DOI: 10. 1038/d41586-025-00703-1); and (2) American Cancer Society (ACS)
Clinical Research Professor Award (awarded to N.K.), for all work not covered by the NIH funding. The grant was reinstated by court order on July 3, 2025 overturning the initial grant termination; however, the funds were not restored until after September 3, 2025, when a court order overturned the subsequent mass termination of federal grants to Harvard University that was imposed on May 15, 2025, with this ruling appealed by the federal government on December 19, 2025.
The content is solely the responsibility of the authors and does not represent the official views of the funders (NIH and ACS).

Amid the rush to burn DEI infrastructure to the ground, it’s worth remembering that the goal was never favoritism. It was a fair shot for people long excluded by unconscious or real bias — prominent scientists, including Nobel laureates, openly argued some “races” were innately unsuited for science.

For folks asking why bother commenting because the OMB won't care: comments help build cases for the courts by explicitly laying out harms. That's why it's really important to have your comments be as specific as possible. Also, contact your senators and reps! They actually do care about this.

A photo of the eclipse taken from Artemis II during a lunar flyby. HOLY COW, that is stunning. Bless you, NASA. On an Earth filled with human ugliness, I really needed to take in this celestial beauty.
Captured by the Artemis II crew during their lunar flyby on April 6, 2026, this image shows the Moon fully eclipsing the Sun. From the crew’s perspective, the Moon appears large enough to completely block the Sun, creating nearly 54 minutes of totality and extending the view far beyond what is possible from Earth. The corona forms a glowing halo around the dark lunar disk, revealing details of the Sun’s outer atmosphere typically hidden by its brightness. Also visible are stars, typically too faint to see when imaging the Moon, but with the Moon in darkness stars are readily imaged. This unique vantage point provides both a striking visual and a valuable opportunity for astronauts to document and describe the corona during humanity’s return to deep space. The faint glow of the nearside of the Moon is visible in this image, having been illuminated by light reflected off the Earth.
