Thrilled to get my hands on the first copies of 'not on like birds but under the curve', a pamphlet of tiny poems with Seán Ó'Ríordáin and birds in them, hand sewn with red thread. Out soon with Wild Honey Press 🌼
A stack of 10 pale blue pamphlets, stitched with red thread. There is a photo of a yellow peony glistening with raindrops on the cover. Above the photo is the title 'not on like birds but under the curve' and below is the author Ellen Dillon.

Tried a low-stakes experiment with my work-approved chatbot the other day, after several rounds of exhausting confabulation it directed me to search the website I would have gone to directly (and to which the Google of 10 yrs ago would have linked someone without any prior knowledge of the subject)

Happy Michaelmas! In some parts of Ireland on this day, rent could be paid in geese. If you’re due to pay rent this month, please consider setting a very irritated goose on your landlord in lieu of payment, in the name of upholding important Irish traditions.
A drawing of mine of a goose looking concerned, with a tag around its neck that reads "This month's rent, with thanks".

This is dark, but also "Adult Female Trade Unionist" so visibly comes from brains cooked exactly the same way that produced "adult human chicken" that I find it difficult to take it as seriously as I should

(Last repost as op disabled quotes). The one about fic transing our daughters is the school story trope of icky cults of sentimentality, writing poetry and all that, which is to be cured with Games.

This social contagion idea though (ugh, check your metaphors). H*l*n J*yce thinks fan fiction is transing your daughters. They’re bonkers. Perhaps if they’d read more fan fiction they’d be more accepting people. Anyway I’ve been smothered in the stuff since 1979 and I’m a model human being.

Almost every pathology of the reactionary movement of which Stock is a part can be predicted by the 19th/mid-20th century British school story. This one is the 'delicate' child who needs to be bullied into romping good health.

A teenage boy with brown hair wearing a white dress shirt and black tie with black pants sits in the reeds by a body of water. it's a grey day, and there are trees in the distance. Next to him stands a golden woman with angel wings. She's looking down towards him.

When it comes to historical folk beliefs and -rituals, it is remarkable how far people are willing to suspend all available evidence to present them as ancient remnants of a pagan past rather than contemporary practices that arose in a Christian context – out of humans living in their own present.

Cáisc Shona daoibh go léir! Happy Easter to those who celebrate on this day. An Easter poem in Latin by a 9th century Irish philosopher.
Sedulius Scottus

Easter Sunday

LAST night did Christ the Sun rise from the dark,
The mystic harvest of the fields of God,
And now the little wandering tribes of bees
Are brawling in the scarlet flowers abroad.

The winds are soft with birdsong; all night long
Darkling the nightingale her descant told,
And now inside church doors the happy folk
The Alleluia chant a hundredfold.

O father of thy folk, be thine by right The Easter joy, the threshold of the light.

St Roch tho.
Statue of St Roch in the Cloisters museum. He is a lean, bearded white man with long brown hair. He wears a pilgrim's hat and boots, a gold cloak and red doublet. His legs are bare and with a sort of martyred flirtatiousness he holds the skirt of his doublet aside to reveal a sexy plague bubo high on his thigh. You can see his panties. A spotted black and white dog with a cake in its mouth jumps up at his side.
