Pondering the mortality choices of half-elven constantly lives rent-free in my head. Tolkien gave so little concrete info about the choice of Elrond and Elros that anyone’s take on it is pure conjecture. Idk if I’ll even like however ROP will handle it, but I’m still excited to see an attempt.

Adding yet another pair of tragic brothers to my collection #trop #lotr

A drawing of Elrond dressed in armour, hands clutching at his hair in anguish. His brother, Elros is in the background, faded.

A screenshot of a quiz question. The question reads “I would”, with instructions right below it saying “Answers, please choose 1”. The answers below that read: kill for you, die for you, die with you, die without you. All of the options are ticked.

⚒️the craft of memory silmarillion, celebrimbor/annatar, 21,896 words, rated M. (for TRSB 2026.) Celebrimbor awakens in Annatar's keeping...with amnesia. read on ao3: archiveofourown.org/works/91676851 inspired by art by Harp_of_Gold; 'Celebrimbor's Jewels': archiveofourown.org/works/91414411

The Craft of Memory.
"Celebrimbor," Annatar says, "You would tell me if you began to remember what you have lost, would you not? I only —" he looks away and clears his throat. "I have much I would like to talk about with you."
Celebrimbor wakes in an unfamiliar land
without his memories of the last few hundred years. He can rest easy, though.
Annatar is there. He will take care of him.

Then, Annatar takes the copper basin and kneels at his feet.
"I was afraid in a way I have never before felt, when I saw your breath leave your body," Annatar murmurs. He pours water into the basin and lathers the soap. His eyes no longer meet Celebrimbor's as he washes him, but instead lingers on the drag of the rag against his skin. He traces the path of the washcloth down his neck and over his collarbones and shoulder blades.
"I know much of smithing, of the making of swords or gems or jewelry, but nothing of the craft of a body," Annatar continues, wringing out the rag. "I never before realized how delicate the flesh is, or even the spirit." Celebrimbor closes his eyes at the drag of the washcloth against his skin, of slick soap and rough linen.
"Oh, I know what you are made of - of skin and sinew, blood and bone," Annatar says. "I know every vein. I am not granted the gift of forgetting, as you are. I must remember it all."
