Work took us to a place with axe throwing, and I did this, which I think legally means I'm the director now.
An axe in the bullseye of a target.

The good news is I finally got to pull out my fuzzy sweater at work. The bad news is, that's because the high today (in Colorado! In October!) is like 90, and the AC is raging.

Me: Ugh why does my sinus itch so bad?? I better not be getting sick! Me earlier today at the barn: *makes joke about how well the ragweed crop is coming in*

Goddammit. The contempt these people have for everything wondrous and good and *human* is so grotesque.

We have an upcoming staff event and just got the lunch menu, and as far as I can tell the vegetarian option is a toppings taco. Which like...could be worse, but they know we have multiple vegetarians on staff! Why do they do this??

The GI disease kitten I couldn't save was named Woodstock. It's been over a decade and I've worked with probably thousands of cats since, but I remember him and I hope my donation helps another cat have a better life than he did.

I just found mold on a mostly-eaten sandwich WHILE my cat was vomiting on the rug, and I just think that should be illegal.

Honestly, even a horse stumbling in shallow-ish mud could feel fairly dramatic, and a rider who is attached to their horse would probably dismount rather than risk the horse falling next time. But my last horse didn't care about tripping and HATED slipping, so mud freaked him out just by existing.

I brought my coffee outside to drink on the deck (because why have suburban house if not enjoy suburban rituals), and it could almost be described as brisk out here! This is very exciting.

I literally had to interrupt therapy a few weeks ago to get my cat off the stove. My therapist did validate that my cats are naughtier than average, though 😅

Professionalism is looking at the Fat Bear Week bracket with your boss during work hours, but not referring to any of the bears as a "boss bitch." Even if they are.

Apparently, it's going to be a "get heartburn from oatmeal" kind of middle-aged day. I miss my carefree youth.

Just saw an older dude walk down the creek path fully reading a paperback. Just nose-down in a book, out for a stroll. Living the dream.

Oh yay I can stop watching it on YouTube! This show is so good it cured my fear of my flying (I watched it on a plane and forgot to be nervous).

Got so excited for fall (it was technically in the 50s when I left for work!) that I wore a cute sweater today. Had to ditch it within half an hour of arriving at work. Climate's haunted.

Anecdotally, I would guess youtube is one of our top visited sites. I love to see the computers getting used for enjoyment in addition to the stuff people think we "should" offer!

My library is lucky that we were able to make sure our lab computers have cd/dvd drives and headphones available. Those are our listening/watching stations now - people can access our library media or anything they can stream, and boy do they.

My last job interview was in 2020. My cat attended. I got the job. It is so annoying to me that we still want to treat job applicants like they are being granted an audience with super special royalty.

I genuinely stopped including "public" in the name of my library in emails for this reason. Not worth the risk.

This man sure has, yes.
An orange cat is wedged mostly upside down between a person and the back of a couch. He looks like someone who gets confused and screams about it, because he is.

Got my updated flu and covid vaccines! Very appreciative of my state and my provider both being like "yeah, vaccines are good actually, vaccines for everyone!" Simple walk-in visit, nice chat with a nurse, protected. Done.

I really hate the framing of these stories as "an AI agent broke out and hacked something." No, an inadequate sandbox meant that a powerful and unpredictable computer program was set loose on the open internet by the company that designed it. The agency isn't with the "AI agent", it's with the firm
