15 years ago when Apocalypse World was new and people were beginning to understand and work with it, it was seductive to look at "acting under fire" and see, not one basic move of several, but the template underlying all the game's moves. Like @kierongillen.bsky.social 's classic gag:

Let books be. Today kicks off #BannedBooksWeek, an annual observation started more than 40 years ago in response to a sudden surge in attempts to censor or remove books in libraries, schools, and bookstores. Sound familiar? Find ways to get involved and spread the word: bit.ly/4yvixbB.
LET BOOKS BE. Various line drawings related to libraries and books, including a hand holding a sign made of an open book that reads "Freed for ALL to Read," a tote bag that reads "Totes Resist" carrying a book, a full book cart with the head and tale of a horse with text that reads "A Wild Ride," and a closeup of two feet standing on a stack of books that say "A Soap Box" on their spines. Text at bottom reads "Protect the freedom to read. Banned Books Week, October 4-10, 2026." American Library Association. ala.org/bbooks

Next time you're running it at a con, let me know? I'll try to sign up. (Gamehole, Gary Con, and PAX Unplugged in PA are all cons I'm debating trying to fit into my 2027 schedule - won't be able to swing all three, but likely can add one of them in with Origins/Gen Con.)

I wonder how chaotic it would be to run a oneshot of DIE RPG where the Personas find themselves in the world of Alpha Complex…

I now can't unsee the connection between Paranoia and DIE RPG, which is a wonderful thing... especially since I enjoy getting to run Paranoia and I keep trying to talk my friends into letting me run DIE RPG for them.

AP Stylebook warns against anthropomorphizing AI systems: “Avoid language that gives them human characteristics… Instead, explain what a system does, how well it performs, who built it and who could be affected by it.”
APStylebook @APStylebook

Artificial intelligence systems do not think, feel, want or understand. Avoid language that gives them human characteristics. This is called anthropomorphizing, when we ascribe human traits, emotions or behaviors to non-human things, such as animals or inanimate objects.
Instead, explain what a system does, how well it performs, who built it and who could be affected by it.

Through the power of research, and the power of phone-a-friend when research failed me, I have made an attempt. ...and partway through, chaos gremlin energy infiltrated said attempt. Which fits with the vibe of the sheet, so I'll take it.
An attempt at Sam's RPG Designer Theoryslop sheet, with "I used Paint to do this chaos :)" written in the multi-polar traits instead of any attempt at properly visualizing them. Fittingly, the Illustration skill is a -1.

Information in TTRPGs and AP is hard enough to gather and parse without vibe-coded slop. I’m just very tired. I want folks who are doing good work drawing on their professional skills and expertise, without fanfare, to have the resources to do it right.

I don’t normally do this: If you’re an archivist or metadata sicko who is doing working to preserve/collect/organize TTRPG materials and/or Actual Play & you’ll be at PAXU, let me know. If there’s already something brewing I don’t need to be involved unless it’s useful. But it needs to be there.

I won't be at PAXU, but I'm a librarian whose MLS capstone focused on archiving born-digital materials (specifically the Internet Archive), and I've tried a few methods of organization for my digital and physical TTRPG collection. Passing this along to some @alagamert.bsky.social folks as well.

Speaking as a librarian who's chatted with you before, and whose MLS capstone was focused on archiving born-digital materials: you should try and meet up with Dr. Friedman, you're more qualified for this sort of thing than you give yourself credit for.

100%. For those unfamiliar, Van Halen had a line in their rider that essentially said “no brown M&Ms.” It was a way to see if the promoter had actually read the contract. They had a shitload of gear to tour with, so if they’re skipping one thing, it’s guaranteed they’re skipping something essential.

Thanks Derek! @mystfyre.bsky.social and the rest of the players in my first go at Lunar X-12 suggested that I make something like this, and it was enough of a hit with my Gen Con tables that I figured it could help more folks if I made it available for download.

I survived this year’s cons through the power of a KN-95 mask and Loop earplugs. (Said earplugs and their lanyard chain thing are neon green because that color was on sale.) Also one of those wired mics used by tour guides, courtesy of @mystfyre.bsky.social, so I could GM masked and still be heard.

Children are people. When you have a kid, you make a person, and that person is not going to follow a script. If you think your kid is one thing and they're actually another, your job as a parent is to support them and set them up for success, not punish them for wanting different pronouns.
