I'm an army brat. Probably the most important thing I learned from my parents on finding a place to live (which they did every 3-5 years) is to decide which schools you would want your kids to attend, then try to find something you can afford that's zoned for them.

Bake sale story: I made some extremely fancy, labor intensive, individual decorated cookies on sticks for a PTA bake sale. A man on the PTA committee priced them at $.25 a piece. When I found out I was furious, and never donated to a bake sale again. $6 wouldn't have even covered the ingredients.

Alright, we're talking about 9/11 and how we remember it. I caught myself thinking a lot about 9/11 during 2020 when I had quarantined my kid and my mom together in her condo to keep them both safe from the pandemic. Eventually I figured out it was because I was in the same state of fear.
