Wearing my usual hi-vis vest, I almost got flattened tonight by a guy driving a pickup truck leaving the gas station at 17th/Bladensburg/Mt. Olivet. When he realized how close he got to ending me, he yelled "sorry, I didn't see you." Obviously, since he never once looked in my direction.

How it works: Between mile 43.4 (MacArthur Blvd) and 43.9 (Loughboro Rd NW) on Arizona Ave., Lime will offer free e-bike rides and shuttle your steed to the top of the hill! There will be shuttles every 20 minutes starting from 10:20 am. They will run 7 times on this schedule: 10:20am, 10:40am, 11am, 11:20am, 11:40am, 12pm, 12:20pm.

To add to the list of disappointing @washingtonsun.bsky.social takes on things: easy to show up for votes when you're not in session most of the time, so spinning this is as good attendance (let alone "impressive") is just farcical. Not as farcical as their occupation spin, but still.

Extra fun when the Safe Accommodation violation is at a school.

Outside CHML parking spaces and the contraflow bike lane are blocked off for storage and port-a-potties. Instead of using the parking spaces on the other side of the street to allow for cyclists to traverse the block without having to face oncoming traffic head-on.

A cousin of this mindset is why I'm always the one to take my wife's bike in for service. Her bike was purchased there, but she (like far too many people) seems perpetually shocked that good service takes time (and therefore costs money), even when it's less than I think it should be.

Signpost where the Metropolitan Branch Trail crosses 8th under Franklin to become a PBL. Have heard of more than a few crashes or near misses, especially when people are having to avoid the people meandering around the ID check for Dew Drop. Hopefully this at least makes it a bit more visible...

One simple setting that all users (but especially public officials and candidates) should have turned on...

This is the "Accessibility" section of the Bluesky settings. This also shows that I have "dark mode" turned on.

The top of the screen has a left-facing arrow (to go back) and the heading "Accessibility"

The options available under "Alt text" are:

"Require alt text before posting" (which I have checked)

and

"Display larger alt text badges" (which I have unchecked)

Looks like a short bit ago a pedestrian was hit by a driver (with their car) at 15th and Constitution NW. Hopefully it was a low speed and low force collision and the pedestrian is not too badly shaken up. But yes, of course the bike lanes are the problem.
