I love being in the PNW because rain is my favorite weather. I get so excited seeing it rain as long as it's substantial because then I can go to the roof with my umbrella and listen to the sound of the rain above and around me all by myself. Something special about being out in it but staying dry.

People smugly asserting their moral superiority for driving an EV are so annoying. EVs won't save us! They're certainly better than fossil fuel vehicles but we MUST end our dependence on cars and EVs do absolutely nothing to reduce the number of cars on the road. Get an e-bike or take the bus PLEASE

Started another playthrough this week and it's been genuinely hard to put down. First Zelda game I actually liked and it still holds up IMO. Sailing can be a bit tedious, not for the quiet breaks but for needing to redirect the wind all the time. Ironically the Wind Waker itself is my last fave part

I think that using AI should have social consequences. It has so many other clear consequences that we should hold its users accountable for. However, erroneous and confident labeling of work being AI with extremely flimsy evidence definitely shouldn't, I feel like that should be obvious.

That said, when helping others to edit their writing, I rarely if ever advocate for their use and usually lightly suggest alternatives when they present. People are way too trigger-happy about labeling work as undeniably AI when they appear, which can be disastrously consequential.

My English teacher in high school hipped me to their usefulness and they've been an important part of my writing ever since. I'm just too stubborn and committed to stylistically honoring her tutelage to abandon them myself just because they've been appropriated by bad actors.

There's so much to hate about LLMs but my personal beef is with the poisoning of the em dash. It's a very useful tool for transcribing very common cadences of how English is used conversationally (which is why they use it in the first place) but has become absurdly associated with AI.

💯 I think it's wild that we take such a lax test often as teenagers to young adults and then just trust that people will remember everything important for the rest of their lives. If you're a bad driver, don't drive, full stop. We just let this kind of behavior continue ad infinitum without consequence to the perpetrators and people (usually children) literally die. It should be much more common to revoke a license and my mind cannot be changed on that.

We treat the ability to drive a car like a sacred, unassailable human right and it does untold harm to society. There's something to be said for how it's been made almost impossible not to drive by our infrastructure and culture, but acting like others don't have a right not to get run over is nuts.

One of the most difficult things for me about chronic major depression is a thought habit of thinking that friends who haven't reached out in a long time don't care about me. During an episode, I'll cut ties and unfriend people I can never get back in my life but I still think about them forever.
