The bridge needs reinstating just north of Taumaranui so that the line to Stratford can be reclaimed and in doing so give a plan B to the NIMT. As a freight line it could serve that masses of forestry blocks that would otherwise clog the forgotten highway with trucks.

I read your post as I sit in Waikato Hospital with my daughter as she gets seen by a specialist. Every worker and volunteer is a hero. More than that they are at the very opposite end of a spectrum where at the other end you'll see the likes of Simeon Brown and similarly wicked, callous others.
