Going through some Erdős problems that Mark Sellke and Mehtaab Sawhney found had already been solved using GPT5 pro for search. More precisely, these were listed as open, but solutions to them already existed in the literature, but not recognized as such. Quite remarkable. One example: [+]

‘no sunset here’ #geometric #AbstractAug #abstract #eastcoastkin #abstractphotography #mobilephotography
An abstract image with three circles, two orange ones inside a larger hot pink one. A long rather fuzzy rectangle intersects circles on the left. The title and image itself are a joke with myself as I was taking a quick snapshot of a sunset through the window of a restaurant. But the most interesting aspect of the foto (which was never meant to be an abstract) was a round light on the dark ceiling. Cracks me up!

a thread of the most exciting things I saw on #CVPR2025 day 1! (1) TerraMesh from IBM + ESA It’s a massive, multimodal dataset for Earth foundation models. Think ImageNet, but for the planet. 9M+ globally aligned image patches combining radar, optical, elevation, vegetation, and land use. 👇

I U N S E E N S I L E N C E I A face emerges in thick white strokes, unrecognizable yet familiar. A ghost of identity blurred by noise, time, and emotion. - The Asylum Art - Art and wordsby Yves #AbstractExpressionism #MonochromeArt #EmotionalArt #art #abstract #blueskyart #abstractart
“Unseen Silence” is a monochromatic abstract expressionist painting that evokes the fragile boundary between identity and oblivion. Rendered in raw, visceral white brushstrokes against a void-like black backdrop, the figure’s face is simultaneously revealed and concealed. The aggressive texture of the paint mirrors the chaos within—a silent scream, a fractured self. With no defined eyes or mouth, the subject becomes universal, a mask worn by many yet truly owned by none. It speaks to the erosion of identity, memory, and clarity in a world overwhelmed by noise.

Not Gaussian or NeRF! SuperDec rocks 3D scenes with superquadrics—compact, clever, and oh-so-smooth! This method uses transformer-based nets to predict superquadric params and soft segmentation, then refines them with Levenberg–Marquardt optimization.
