There is still huge resentment in this town about the amount of time, energy and money that was used up by #Brexit from 2016 to 2020. The last thing people want is to start that process again only to have a new government come in and torpedo the talks.

Doggerland must have seemed like a paradise compared to the starker uplands: food from the coast, food from rivers, deer, wild boar, berries, birds, otters, beavers... Sure, the sea seemed to be creeping inland a bit more ever year, but hey - let future folk sort it out! 9/
Two maps side by side showing the proposed changes in the shape of Doggerland as the sea levels rose - on the right, after the sea had come in, it's reduced the vast plains of Doggerland to a few scattered islands out in what's now the North Sea.

Work progressing on cycle path linking Liffey Cycle Route and Clontarf route
Construction workers this week were busy working on a section of the new cycle path between the Liffey Cycle Route at City Quay and the Clontarf route at Connolly Station on Amiens Street. The active work sites are currently around the Talbot Memorial Bridge, where the footpath on the western side is to be widened and a two-way cycle path will be provided beside it, and along the east edge of Custom House, where the contra-flow cycle track and a traffic lane are to be transformed into part of the two-way cycle path.
