🚨 NCA5 is now LIVE! 🚨 They took it down, but we've brought it back at: nca5.climate.us Bookmark. 👏 this. 👏 page. 👏 This is just our first step in restoring trusted science information that Americans need to understand what's happening with the climate.

This is a devastating loss. Climate.gov is home to the U.S. Climate Resilience Toolkit, a major resource for local governments and businesses working to understand and prepare for climate risks. Another huge blow to U.S. adaptation capacity (along w/ 6th National Climate Assessment, IRA cuts, etc).

🧪 Though a doubling of NSF's budget might seem far-fetched, that's exactly what Congress said what's needed to maintain national competitiveness in science & tech. From the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act of 2022:
CHIPS and Science authorization for FY26 = $17.8B

White House skinny budget = $3.9B

The NOAA layoffs aren't just crude, they're a direct attack on US capacity to do climate science by firing highly productive young researchers. @zachlabe.com has an insanely strong publication history, part of the Fresh eyes CMIP team, WMO task teams etc. /1 www.gfdl.noaa.gov/zachary-labe/
