The recent ICE raid which emptied an entire apartment building was apparently at the request of Wells Fargo, which is trying to foreclose on the building.

These two things are of a piece, even if the motivations and details differ. Trump’s justification for his authoritarian crackdown is an America that doesn’t exist. @lizzieohreally.bsky.social

Lizzie O’Leary quote post of a CNN post that pairs the headline “What is the insurrection act?” with an image of an on fire Winchell’s Donuts from the 92 LA riots.

🚨Trump confirmed what we’ve known all along. As Rep. Jeffries said: “Why don’t Republicans want to swear in Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva? Is it the Epstein files?” Now Trump won’t rule out pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell—right after SCOTUS upheld her conviction. The cover-up is cracking.

It seems clear—I think to everyone, now—that a false and illegal invocation of the Insurrection Act is coming before the end of the year. Media outlets should be telling us how they will prepare for this potential Treason. State governments should be telling us. Activists should be developing plans.

BREAKING: Stephen Miller—both Trump Administration capo and de facto head of DHS, ICE, and DOJ, has just declared that peaceful protesters are "street terrorists." Under an executive order signed by Trump just days ago, that means he is saying that all protesters in America can be arrested on sight.

Sometimes I forget how good it feels to make good simple food at home. A small salmon steak on top of a layer of thin sliced potato, seasoned, garnished with dill and parsley, drizzled olive oil, minced ginger, garlic, and a couple slices of lemon baked in parchment. Salad and rice. So tasty. No pic

Wow. Lenacapavir, a twice-yearly shot that prevents HIV spread was just approved by the FDA. The problem? Due to government cuts to Medicaid, PEPFAR, and Global Fund, it's unlikely this game-changing drug will reach the many people who need it most in the US and globally.

I’m so tired of the attempts to frame every democratic leader trying to fight the crises at hand as jockeying for a next presidential bid. It’s irrelevant until we are secure we’ll even have one. It’s a deflection or profound state of denial, either way read the room and be present now.

This should be a much bigger story. Murder has *plunged* across the country—so much so that the U.S. may see the lowest murder rate *ever recorded.* That this is even possible after the 2020 murder spike is truly amazing.
