Took the kids to see FORGOTTEN ISLAND. It was beautiful. My Dad and I often talk about how who we are is made up of our memories. This film reminded me of that, and I DEFINITELY shed a tear or two. ♥️♥️

Accurate. I gave myself nightmares after borrowing a book filled with urban mythology I borrowed from the school library because they were described quite vividly.

That said, I can see why several friends of mine found it annoying. It's very style-over-substance, tapping into some modern primal fears (COVID, school shootings, community surveillance, actual witch hunts) without delving into where they come from. To put it another way, it's very JOKER coded.

Both this and Resident Evil feel like a prankster winding up a Jack-in-the-Box packaged like a bomb. You're only meant to take them seriously up until it explodes.

Weapons (8/10) Definitely one of the funniest final set pieces in recent memory. These days people are shocked when a comedian directs horror, but not Zach Cregger.

Anyway, a movie culture without the possibility of insane overpriced whiffs will be a less healthy movie culture, and I'll eat these words the day that I can say that David Ellison has taken at least three big creative gambles, but I'm not holding my breath. x

As someone who made the Manila to California move myself after high school, this movie felt especially targeted to me. I'm still close w/ friends from home but I like to think I bring a lot of that Filipino energy to my new home here. (and invite everyone to karaoke whenever I possibly can!)

Not a knock against the film! I can only imagine how much push back they got for concepts like Manananggal (which was so brilliantly shortened to Manang - Ma'am). To see it featured so prominently was pretty dang cool. Utterly love the freakish nightmare movement they gave her.

I found it funny Filipino mythological creatures I grew up reading about and are generally thought of as terrifying were put through the Appealing Character Design filter. What do you mean tiyanak, kapre, or aswang don't want to defile me, tear my flesh out or eat me alive?

#Movie Forgotten Island (2026) What a special, joy-filled movie! Loved seeing our culture up there in the environment, food, casual phrases, personalities, design etc. Even heard songs I haven't thought about in years! Grateful this exists and hope more people give it a chance!

Best Medicine may be a remake of a superior show but it has a distinct charm & i still enjoy spending 45 minutes a week with Josh Charles. i hope it moves away from the original premise the way the office did bc it was better off for it. ghosts too. all of which i like (tho bbc ghosts is better)

We just finished the first season of Best Medicine on Netflix. It's an adaptation of Doc Martin. Takes place in a picturesque town with a cast of quirky characters & comfy, low-drama vibes. Kind of surprised how much we enjoyed it.
