It's right to be outraged. Just as it's right to be outraged when ICE guns someone down. But I also want us to remember all of the people dying due to deplorable conditions in prisons, jails, and immigration detention centers, bc they are also being murdered by the state.

If federal law enforcement officers are permitted to shoot people, cite vague concerns for "public safety," and get away with it, we're headed for a really dark place.

When North Carolina created a new clemency process, 191 incarcerated people who were convicted as children petitioned to the review board. The board led to clemency to only 14 people, and then it disbanded.

If we're not at war, Pete Hegseth is a murderer. If we are at war, Pete Hegseth is still a murderer. He's a murderer. And you don't need to go to The Hague to hold him accountable because there are perfectly good, American laws AGAINST MURDER. My latest in @thenation.com

Pete Hegseth Should Be Charged With Murder
No matter how you look at the strikes on alleged “drug boats”—as acts of war or attacks on civilians—Hegseth has committed a crime and should be prosecuted.

On #WrongfulConvictionDay, protect the innocent in NC by calling Gov. Stein's Office to ask that he veto HB307. The bill creates an arbitrary timeline for post-conviction litigation in capital cases that would make it virtually impossible to exonerate innocent people on death row.

Appreciate the opportunity to join @wunc.org to discuss Mr. Cole's case and the evidence of his innocence that led to his freedom. Public radio is a vital source of information, and we must ensure it survives the funding cuts and attacks by the current administration.

Actually, Pardons Aren’t Issued Often Enough
Fearing political backlash, governors use their clemency powers far less than they once did. But it’s a powerful tool for addressing injustice.
