History, the venue: -great sound -great bathrooms -great service at the bars -looks like really decent HVAC -very organized staff and security -balcony looked aces if you wanna shell out the dough -no slope to the floor so tall people ruined a lot of people's view of the stage

On a rare Tuesday off, I decided to go to Highjinx. I talked myself out of a punch bowl set in my favourite blue Carnival Glass, but I couldn't resist these cuties.

On a separate but related note: the ground is not an appropriate place to leave your unfinished cup of diabetes. I found 2 abandoned drinks. There are no garbage cans within the Arboretum proper, so I left each one where they'll be seen by staff but not easily knocked over. #PickUpYourShit

Possibly controversial opinion: people with disabled placards in their cars should not be allowed to park in bike lanes or on sidewalks just because of this placard ownership. You should not be allowed to endanger other people's safety just because you are disabled.

It's funny that I feel the same way this BC resident does about the stupid fence @en.ottawa.ca has put up to restrict access to Trillium Pathway. Except, car traffic calming saved lives. The stupid fence will just be a hindrance and not actually solve the problem.

Approximately 12 inches between a metal fence and metal sign, which is meant to be the access to transit.

Access to the unaccessible route to transit goes over a curb, gravel, and grass. Anyone who is not able bodied would have a hell of a time getting to the bus stops.

So, #Thunderhead Monument is really flippin cool. It's bigger than I expected. There's lots of seating (but not in the shadiest areas), and I love the curly paths. I just hope taggers will leave it alone.

Decided to play tourist today. QED pathway is jam-packed, so I took the road the whole way around the canal. (2 cars and 2 motorcycles passed) The new pathway along Parliament is beautiful (and busy)! The Plant is even cooler irl, and the 2SLGBTQI+ monument is super cool!

Three other people on bikes went thru this space within 1 minute of this image. The rider on the far side on the path, riding an e-trike with a passenger, had to make a wide turn around the people and went into the grass. Not very accessible. @arieltroster.com @jleiper.bsky.social

This is how far past the fence one must go to see the oncoming lane. So if someone is trying to go left, and someone else is NB, there's gonna be conflict, regardless of the fence. The actual issue with this area is path alignment. @arieltroster.com @jleiper.bsky.social

Here's the approach, in the dark, south bound, with a bright light on the bike. By the time you're far enough along to get a line of sight on the oncoming lane, you're almost past the fence. I never make the turn until I can fully see the oncoming lane. CC @arieltroster.com @jleiper.bsky.social
