the MFL subway is delayed either 10 or 30+ minutes, there is no other option. it has also frozen on the tracks. which means it doesn't run. cars can't park because of the ice, so buses are getting trapped on streets because THIS CITY WAS BUILT FOR HORSES THAT'S WHY THE STREETS ARE SMALL

in case anyone would like to know how Philly is 3 weeks post-snow storm ice on most the roads still. crosswalks and curb cuts still mostly ice or mounds of ice. still have to walk in the street in many spots. trolleys randomly stop running at any time broad street subway is currently not running

They frame this as something radical in order to lend credence to labeling her a domestic terrorist. I researched all 50 states and nearly all have school districts w/ guidance like this. It is not some clandestine thing. It's policy. Everyone's a domestic terrorist. which is why it's so absurd.

Personally the big red flag is that I’ve been absolutely flooded with ads for this stuff. There’s a big difference between a doctor recommending it to someone who’s struggled with alternatives and these companies constantly pushing that shit on us when it’s worse than free alternatives

Have you ever gone to pay your rent and there's a $3 fee on top of rent? Or maybe it costs $10 to pay with a credit card? Yeah. So that convenience/junk fee is actually illegal in several states. Landlords do this all the time — but it's often illegal and makes the lease void.

PHILLY: Apparently there’s a protest “against gun violence scheduled to start at 3pm today and go from the Art Museum into Kensington. The chuds *will be armed and open-carrying* and several local schools have already sent students home out of caution. Cops are already at the Art Museum.

Good morning Freire Families -
Freire Charter High School will dismiss at 1PM today. All students must go directly home and all after school activities are cancelled.
At 10:30 today all Center City Schools were called to an urgent and unscheduled meeting around school safety.
Law Enforcement has advised all schools in Center City to dismiss early. They didn't give great detail, but shared that there is a planned protest happening today at 3PM and some of the participants have Open-Carry permits and may be brandishing firearms/assault weapons down the Parkway and into Center City.
There is some level of uncertainty and the potential for counter-protests.
We are working with the other schools in the area and law enforcement for a staggered dismissal. Freire Charter High School will dismiss at approximately 1PM after they report to their 5th period classes. With the protest planned for 3PM, there is not any indication of immediate safety concerns and dismissing at 1PM.
This allows for time for the other center city schools to dismiss (starting at 11:30) and for the crowds to thin out before our community dismisses.
The current plan is for students to report to their 5th period class at
1PM and classrooms will be dismissed individually so we can have a safe and orderly dismissal.
I apologize for the inconvenience and I can assure you we have moved swiftly and thoughtfully in how to pivot on short notice.
