If the job is awful, dangerous, boring, and a machine can do it? A machine *should* do it. If a machine can’t, then the humans who keep society going instead should be paid enough to allow them to retire well before the work ruins their bodies.

Christ, I've just read people assuring other people that "good people have empathy". I fucking hate that word. I do not hate choosing to value caring about other people. I hate the idea that there's a magic decency switch that makes you automatically good or bad depending on if it's flipped on.

I am the unpaid carer of an adult child with MEcfs. As of today it will cost me $130-150 to get my covid booster, previously taxpayer funded. I am neither immunocompromised nor immunosuppressed, in which case still free. But the group of people at risk of long covid is far far bigger. Travesty.

Excellent question. This gets to the heart of Autistic un- and under-employment and/or Autistic under-compensation. Broadly, job tasks are divvied up on the assumption that (nonAutistic) workers are already trained in the "main" expertise, & will become middling-to-average in all others. #AutChat

Memory. I had an excellent memory when I was younger, though I'm noticing it's not so excellent now. If you remember things, this overshadows many difficulties. However, I don't have full control over what I remember... #AutChat

I will never stop being surprised that my strong desire to get something done does not automatically lead to actually doing it. At least these days I recognise this is not a moral issue. I just have to roll into things rather than force it. (Paid work means completing tasks on adrenaline.) #AutChat

When I was required to dress well for work, I paid for an expensive haircut, put a lot of research into clothing ensembles, wore makeup. People were sometimes surprised, when entering my office or home, that my put-together appearance was not reflected in my living space. #AutChat

If I had to sum it up, I'd say I'm far better at doing anything at all if I've had: 1. advance warning 2. time to research it/think through various scenarios 3. and things go according to how I expected #AutChat

For years I've been telling my spouse to pop into the local library and register for a library card. He hasn't. I've given him my own account password for now, bc I'm busy getting through my purchased books lately. Let's see if this persuades him, because he ain't keeping my login details forever.

Basic Income Action ↗️ @basicincomeaction.org · 27/09/2026
Getting paid at the time doesn't erase the value you created. Infrastructure and institutions compound across generations, each builds on what came before and passes forward more than they were paid for. That surplus is growth. Basic income is an equal and fair claim on that ongoing surplus.

With Ace Week🖤🩶🤍💜 coming up Oct 25-31st, I'm putting together an Itchio bundle called 'Asexuals on Adventures'. Main criteria: at least one main character is somewhere on the asexual spectrum (aro-ace is fine👋) and see eligibility graphic for 'Adventure'!⬇️ Sign up form: on my discord or I can DM!
Asexuals on Adventures, Coming Oct 19-31st on Itchio.

Ace flag and purple background.

Main text: 'Adventure' for the purpose of this bundle could be of a fantastical, scientific, or other speculative nature, or historical. Ideally it involves travel/ exploration, and may involve quests (from personal in scale, to save a people/ save the world.)

Eligibility & Genre:
At least one Main Character is somewhere on the asexual spectrum.
Plot-central ace (and LGBTQIA+) themes are welcome, but not required.

Adventure. There needs to be a big adventure, ideally one involving geographical travel. Eg. Exploring space/ a fantasy world, time travel, an alternate history, an underworld of demons, a society of vampires. Sexual exploration involving long distance travel and experiences of other places (eg a road trip) is welcome. Murder mysteries involving long distance travel (eg. multi city/ country investigations and some experience of those places) are welcome.

Given Adventure, I'm anticipating Fantasy, SciFi & other Speculative Fiction. Possibly Historical, mystery/ crime, romance, NSFW.

Preorders: Pre-orders are welcome, if your book releases within 5 weeks of the bundle's end date. Please state the release date in your Itch book description, so readers know when they can download your book.

This is the bullshit you get back when you tell a company you won't be buying any more of their product because they are sending money directly to a transphobe with their Harry Potter licenced goods, and ask them to terminate the partnership.
Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns with us.

I’m genuinely sorry to hear how strongly our decision to offer Harry Potter merchandise has affected you and your family. I completely understand that this is a deeply personal and important issue, and I appreciate you taking the time to explain your perspective.

We understand the Harry Potter series means many things to different people. Our Harry Potter-inspired collection has been created in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products and is designed to celebrate the values within the wizarding world: kindness, inclusivity and bravery.

We truly appreciate you sharing your perspective with us, and I’m sorry that our collection has left you feeling this way. Your feedback is important, and we’ll ensure it is heard by the relevant team.

We're here to help with any questions about your order or our products, and we appreciate you taking the time to let us know your perspective.

Kindest regards,

I learn well from textbooks. Neurotypical brains tend to find this tedious and would prefer to learn from talking to native speakers. Of course both are necessary. Japanese will have you spending a lot of time with textbooks, or these days with apps maybe. #AutChat
