The devastation that Trump’s tax cuts for billionaires and mega corporations had on wealth inequality is profoundly under discussed. That’s why people ask if a meager increase in a local tax on a $100 million corporation is going to be a burden to the company. The scale of wealth is incomprehensible

Everybody loses when we let our state's roads and bridges atrophy and decay - and it only gets substantially more expensive to fix these roads the longer we wait. All eyes on passing a transportation package next session that addresses Oregon's decades of disinvestment. #orleg #orpol

Just want to clear up a misconception about Chief Day's statement yesterday. He did not give that statement in uniform or on video - PPB released it via news release.
Hello PPB PIO,

I have been seeing reporting that Chief Day made his statement in uniform yesterday, but I can't find the video.

I suspect that folks believe this because of the old image displayed on the Oregonian's article:

https://www.oregonlive.com/portland/2026/09/portland-police-chief-says-i-no-longer-have-confidence-in-mitch-green-after-anti-police-tweets-resurface.html

Are you able to confirm whether or not there is video of Chief Day's statement, or if it was just a press release?

Thank you,

Marc Poris
Portland CopwatchHey, Marc ..

Yes, as the caption on the photo indicates, the photo is from months ago following in the incident at the MAC. Chief Day did not speak with reporters yesterday, or even today. We simply released a statement via news release.

Northern spotted owls have been on the endangered list since the 1990s. Researchers say that’s due to habitat loss from logging and invasive barred owls outcompeting them for prey and space.

LaVonne Griffin-Valade, former Oregon Secretary of State and auditor for both the city of Portland and Multnomah County, hit a relevant criticism in her 2016 endorsement of Chloe Eudaly over Steve Novick: www.wweek.com/news/2016/08...
Griffin-Valade overlapped with Novick at City Hall for two years. She says she's voted for him twice, once when he ran for the U.S. Senate and again when he ran in 2012 for the city council.

But now, as a community member and voter, she says she finds herself "disappointed" with Novick's style and his sometimes glib responses to questions about his actions. "He really thought he knew everything and he didn't," she says.

You didn’t do that either though. So now, you saved 30 jobs and funded police training. But hey, we can write 73 contracts.

Some context regarding Moda Center renovations. The Trail Blazers $600 million request is larger than any recent/planned public contribution to an NBA/NHL arena renovation. It's not "market rate" or even reasonable. What Dundon is demanding is an outlier.
Dot plot showing the median public contribution to NBA renovations from 2025 and beyond is $338 million.
