I skimmed the article but just going to say Lonesome Dove is #1 most recommended book on Reddit book subs. It was one I've meant to read but never got to and then when I did, I found out, yes it is all that. I'd suggest that's as much of why it's popular now as whatever he's trying to make fit

There's scattering of R signs in rural Lucas, Wood, Fulton but nothing like before. Sadly I think they'll still vote R but hopefully most of them stay home
