For sure! I think that tracks because the 70s-80s were more the era of the straight-laced space opera, while the 90s were "space opera but now we're getting wild with it"

000

Diana T. ★ Laiska @laiska.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

To me Galaxy Legend Stalwart sounds the most like "niche 80s mech anime you read about on a Wiki but it only came out on limited laserdisc release so you've never actually seen it" but Grand Space Ishmael is the most evocative, like "What does that mean? Who is Ishmael? I want to know more..."

(This is particularly notable because back in my school days I became so fixated on playing Minesweeper to unwind that it became kind of a joke, and even back then I never got my head into the right mode to successfully clear the game that way... Not sure what finally shifted after so many years!)

In an achievement that is probably only exciting to me, for the first time in my entire life I just managed to clear an Expert level Minesweeper board without clearing any of the bombs

Fuck ChatGPT flyers. The future is broadsheets.

A crowded broadsheet with way too many fonts. It says:
Forget ChatGPT Flyers
Say it with
Broadsheets
Unlimited fonts
Stretch them
Or cram a really long sentence into one line for no good reason
No whitespace
Mix capital and lowercase
Pointing hands
(They're called manicules!)
Don't be left behind
Broadsheets are the future

Humaning.

A four-panel comic. In panel 1, a Northern Cardinal and American Goldfinch perch above a busy crowd in a city, looking down. The cardinal says "It's a nice day to go humaning." The goldfinch says "Just look at them. Majestic." In panel 2, a close-up of the two birds. The cardinal says "Nobody tells you that you'll reach a certain age and suddenly get into humaning. I hit 3 years old, and then bam."The birds are looking out over the crowd scene. In panel 3, the cardinal says "Their calls sound funny to us, but each one has a unique meaning." Below, people are saying various things: "I'm tired." "Where's my phone?" "I'd murder a burrito." In panel 4, the birds look down excitedly at a man walking by. The cardinal says "Wait, is that a guy who got dressed in the dark and put his shirt on inside out and backwards?" And the goldfinch exclaims, "Holy... that's a lifer!"

I hated the show Caillou as a kid, but my sister liked it. The one and only day that I decided to be gracious and let her know that Caillou was about to start was September 11th, 2001, and if you can believe it, they weren't showing Caillou that morning.

Letting human translators to review AI translations is quite ridiculous. It’s like asking professional people for repairing a broken stolen car when they have enough skill to make new cars legally.

tepid take for letterer appreciation day: if manga translators ever get a 2x raise (hah), letterers deserve 3x. 4x if we're talking full SFX/signage retouch. and more for rush simuls where they have like ~24h to get it done. anything less is unlivable, and an insult to their time and skills

i think ppl would be a lot happier and better-adjusted on here if they realized that being online on a website is like being in any other casual public space full of people. if u walk into walmart u dont immediately think to yourself “i have to be friends with everyone in this walmart and if not everyone likes me i’m a failure” and u really shouldn’t feel that way online either. likewise if there’s a guy in the walmart parking lot shouting obscenities u probably wouldn’t answer him and that’s literally an exact equivalent to some of the weird stuff that people on here seem to feel they’re obligated to respond to.
