Pygmalion and the early Pretty Woman. Mrs Patrick Campbell, muse to George Bernard Shaw was the original inspiration for Eliza Doolittle in Pygmalion. From her to Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady, and later Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, it’s a character that’s been reimagined across generations.
