So excited to share that my latest paper is now available online in Social Forces! I explore Black residents’ emotional attachment and the agentic nature of their desires to stay in the neighborhood despite it not meeting some material needs. I’m happy to be able to center these experiences!

Excited about my latest publication in Qualitative Sociology! I explore how Black residents in a resource scarce ”desert” perceive access to groceries, pharmacies, and parks and why their lived realities often diverge from GIS-based assessments of access. doi.org/10.1007/s111... DM me for a link!

Happy Black History Month! Here is my favorite story about a Black American you may not know about: Robert Smalls. He commandeered a confederate ship and sailed himself, his family, and the other enslaved crew and their families to freedom. THROUGH waters controlled by the Confederacy.

Hey if anyone is considering backing up any datasets for some reason today, the Open Science Framework has free storage up to 5G/private repository, and up to 50G/public repository. (The OSF is run by a 501c3 (Center for Open Science), so if you do this you might also consider making a donation.)

I am not sure who needs to hear this, but if you are a scholar who uses state or federal public health data sets, you might want to download them to your computer before they disappear.
