I rolled into my school council meeting late and on 3 hours of sleep (casino night shift) and anyway there was a request from a parent that council not buy from Tim Hortons again for appreciation gifts or such because of the transphobia. And nobody objected and so it was agreed.

Honestly I think a lot of organizations and groups have been extremely cowardly about the referendum and 9 questions. Groups worried about funding and government retaliation and such. But unless they stand up and be courageous they’ll continue to be under these threats.

I really think the story of the last year-plus is a story of a failure of leadership at all levels by folks who should be leading the opposition. I’d like to think that lesson has been learned but in its absence it makes the courage of individuals all that more important.

I think this is so important. I didn't see any folks like myself growing up in Alberta. I didn't have the language to explain myself for decades. I worry a lot of kids are still having that experience today.

Today I was doing photo day and a grade 1 was very insistent about my nail polish because “nail polish isn’t for boys.” I was able to reply that I like wearing it, and another classmate was like “I wore it too!” I don’t know if I changed any minds, but I’m determined to be visible.

I don’t know how to word this quite right but I mask and I’m usually not performing gender right and every time I volunteer at my school I get questions from curious kids about nails or hair or mask or such, and it leads me to believe I could be the only person anywhere near them doing these things.

How about a vision where we don’t spend billions on new pipelines and instead invest that money in emission reduction & climate mitigation? The Federal report on climate change in Canada suggested 5 degrees of warming by 2081 under current policies. My children will be alive to see that.
