And some will think this petty, but even the passive voice in the first sentence "Albertans are being asked" - riles me. Why? These questions didn't just "arise" - the UCP government decided to put these divisive questions to us, and bill us for the privilege. And they need to held accountable.

Smith & the UCP have worked since the day they were elected to destroy Alberta's healthcare & education, and replace it with private healthcare Now, a year before an election, Smith is using the referendum to spread the idea that immigrants are to blame for that destruction Just my opinion #ableg

Screenshot: Alberta is betting its energy industry can help build its artificial-intelligence economy, with Meta's massive data-centre project in Sturgeon County being held up as an example of what comes next for the province.
At the Alberta's Industrial Heartland Association annual conference in Edmonton on Thursday, Sept. 10, Meta community engagement manager Matt Sexton said Alberta's Industrial Heartland offered a combination of land, energy, infrastructure and skilled workers that made it possible for the company to consider "tens of billions of dollars" in capital investment.
"When people think about Al, they often think about the software, the applications, and the technology," Sexton said. "But behind every Al application is physical infrastructure. The data centres, the power, the skilled workers, construction, engineering."
The scale of the Meta project is already evident.
More than 3,000 workers are expected onsite during peak construction, Sexton said, with more than half of the current workforce coming from Alberta. He said fabrication work is also underway in Calgary, with the company expecting to reach 13,000 workers over the next 12 to 15 months.
